Exquisite Tile Works

I did a ~ $25,000 kitchen remodel and decided to hire all the contractors myself to save money and to hand pick the individuals. Out of everyone I hired (custom cabinets and granite, tiler, electrician, plumber) I am most happy with Exquisite Tile Work. When Don came to my house to give me a bid, he said he wouldn't be the cheapest, but he would be the best. I definitely found that to be the case.

Don is very precise in his craft and takes pride in his work. He took twice as long as I expected because he made sure everything was done perfectly (I had no complaints about that!) My house is 120 years old and at one point it became obvious that he would need to level the floor before laying the tile. When the cabinet guys came out to measure for the cabinets they were really impressed at how level my floor was, especially when I told them that Don had actually leveled it.

Everyone else that I hired had multiple people working for them. So, I had multiple plumbers come over, multiple electricians, and many many cabinet people. When I had problems, it was such a hassle to get things fixed or changed (and quot;yes, I see there's a scratch in the granite I just installed, but I'm just the installer, there's nothing I can do about itand quot;, and quot;oh, yes, I see that the bill for the plumbing is incorrect, that's because there were two different plumbers who came out and the charges should have been combined and compared to the original estimateand quot;- I am still waiting for a correct bill for the plumbing three weeks later). At the end, everything was taken care of, but it ended up taking up a lot of my time and almost makes me wish I had hired a general contractor!

Don, on the other hand, works for himself. He said that at one point he did have other guys working for him, but it ended up taking up more of his time because he wanted to meticulously check everyone's work to make sure it was up to his standards. When I had questions about different tile choices or grout color or even to tell him about my availability, he was easy to get in touch with, I always talked to him directly, and he was always quick to respond. That alone made it worth it to hire him. He was the one person that I didn't have to worry about and check up on. I gave him a key and the days I was gone, he let himself in, did his work, and left everything taken care of. And, after he was done, there was nothing that needed fixing or changing.

All in all, I am very happy with my kitchen, and very happy with my tile! The floor looks great, and the white subway backsplash looks stunning! I have gotten many compliments. I highly recommend Exquisite Tile Works. If I ever need more tile work done I won't hesitate to call them again.

He is knowledgable, respectful, and shows up on time.

As was the case in the previous job, Don was always there at 8:30am, took
a short lunch break outside, and left about 4:30. Again the job was
completed when promised and the quality is outstanding. After
completion, we had three glass companies come to give us bids on the
shower glass; two said it was one of the best tile jobs they'd seen; the
third asked who did the tile and when he heard Don's name, he said oh,
then I don't even need to see if it's level and plumb because I know his
work is excellent.
In the next two years we are planning to remodel our kitchen and our
utility room with an adjoining bath. Don will certainly do any tile
work that needs to be done.

Don came first to give us an estimate. To save money, we tore out the old tile tub surround and old tile floor. When we had finished the demolition we called Don and he gave us a project start date just a couple of weeks out. We chose the tile from a local tile company; Don purchased it and delivered it to our house. On each morning of the five-day job, he was there at exactly the agreed upon time. He never left the job site, even eating lunch here. Every tile was set with percision and the angled corners were cut to perfection. If he didn't get a piece set to his high standards, it was removed and re-placed, or even re-cut. He covered my floors with protective drop-cloths from the front door to the bathroom. At the end of each day, any mess created was cleaned-up and the drop-cloths were rolled-up and put away. Don never assumed anything, he always asked questions. He suggested several ways the tiles and accent pieces could be set but left the choices to us. He even offered to come back a few days later to drill and install the new shower curtain rod. Don is a true craftsman in every sense of the word. He has many years of experience and takes great pride in his work. I will never have anyone else do tiling work in my home.
