He arrived on time and the work was completed quickly and well. He explained the problem and fixed my oven and confirmed that it worked. He returned everything back where it belonged and cleaned up. Price was good

John was on time, performed the work needed, explained to me what had broken, what was needed and the cost. Everything went amazingly well.

Left message for John at Downhome Appliance at 1PM; John returned the call by ~2:45pm, and arrived at 3pm as he estimated. Service work was completed by 3:30pm. John asked several questions about the problem, analyzed the situation, check the drain line, removed and cleaned out the drain pump, restarted the washer, and it performed properly. John provided info on the repair history of this product, and likely future repairs. He also recommended new washers that are well made. John was very punctual, pleasant personality, informative, and charged a reasonable rate.

John Spates said he'd come at 12:30; he showed up at exactly 12:30. He took just a few minutes to identify the problem, said he'd need to pick up a new part but had another job to finish first, and would be back at 3:30. He came back at exactly 3:30 and within 10 minutes had the refrigerator running. In this day-and-age of half-baked service providers, his performance was notable.

He was really nice and polite. I would definitely recommend him.

I will use this service for any appliance needs I have. He is good, affordable, knowledgable, mature, and knows his business. I would highly recommend him. I read all the reviews from the so called popular one's listed online and the reviews
were awful. I called one of them before I called Downhome and they wanted a credit card and a $90 deposit. I saw the truck from Downhome and decided to call them and then saw that he was listed on Angie's List and that was enough for me to
choose them and I am so glad I did.This is a good choice for appliance repair.

My Mom's old Maytag dishwasher was not filling with water.  I called John at Downhome Appliance.  John had me check a couple of items of the float switch.  When those items checked out fine, he came out, later that day and carefully troubleshot the dishwasher for about 40 minutes and found a wire that had gotten broken.  He carefully re-spliced the wire and then tested the dishwasher.  We were back up and running.  John is great!!

He is outstanding. I never had any problems with him. I totally trust what he did and the dryer is doing well. He is extremely fair with the price. The quality is excellent and I did not need to call him back. His diagnosis is correct. He answered when I called him even when he is on another job and if he called me back when he needed to. He is reliable. He is ten minutes early, he is always ahead of schedule and he was never late. He is a very nice man, very respectful and has good manners.

Over Thanksgiving and Christmas I noticed that things were taking a long time to bake in my oven. When I tested it with an oven thermometer, it was running way below the set temperature. At one point while baking pies my carbon monoxide detector went off. I called the day after Christmas and described the problem. John explained that it was common for the ignitors to wear out in my model of oven between 8-12 years (mine is 11 years old). He offered me a late appointment the same day. I scheduled him for the next morning. He came on time and had the repair done in about 15 minutes and cleaned up well. He gave me the broken part and showed me how the new one worked. He also described his experience with different brands in case I decide to replace it in the future.

A couple of years ago he repaired my dishwasher, which also went very well. At that time he gave me several maintenance tips to keep it running well and prevent my problem from coming back.

Cancelled an appointment, no show on another. I had to call to find out they weren't going to come. I was waiting for 4 hours before they told me the repair man was too busy to make it. Rescheduled. The repair man was condescending and rude when he told me the problem.

Our dishwasher was having trouble for about two weeks before we went on Christmas vacation. It was making loud screeching noises. We left and went on vacation. When we came home 10 days later, the dishwasher was still making noises. I wasn't too worried until it suddenly stopped draining water. So I got on the Frigidaire web site to search for an authorized repair company. I found only one in my area. So I Googled them and found nothing but bad reviews. So then my mother told me about Angie's List and I signed up and did a search. I found Downhome Appliance and called. The owner was very nice and explained the exact costs up front for the different types of problems I could be having as well as the service charge. He then told me that it could simply be a piece of food stuck behind the drain and he'd hate to charge me the service fee if that's all it was. So he told me how to take about the dishwasher and being the DIY queen I am, I set right to work. After I took apart the dishwasher and could not find the problem, he scheduled an appointment for the very next day. He showed up on time and was in my home for less than 30 minutes. He came in, took the dishwasher apart, found the problem--a rivet from a Farberware knife had come loose and lodged itself behind the drain cap, removed it and put the dishwasher back together. I have had NO problems since then. I would recommend this company to anyone with a problem with any dishwasher. It doesn't matter what brand. This guy seems to really know his stuff. And he's very nice, polite, professional and clean. He didn't leave even a hint of a mess at all. It was a great experience.

Our fridge was only getting cool - not cold, but the freezer worked. Down Home came out and replaced a part and it works like a dream. What I appreciated is that when I originally called, he had me check a few things first. That way - it may be something I could fix on my own. It turned out that I did need him but it was nice that her offered free advice that MAY have fixed my problem.

It was a good deal on the washing machine. He is honest, reliable and quick to respond, and I would definitely use him again. His prices were fair. When were first hired him here to fix a washer and while he was here he also looked at a dishwasher and did not charge me for his evaluation of the dishwasher. He helped arrange for a kit and he was not going to be able to do the repair because it was under warranty, but he still went out of his way to help me.
