There were some delays in production, but again Dan was honest and explained the situation. In all the work took about a month. The person Dan sub-contracted the granite counter top work out to did an amazing job. You would never know there were changes made to the granite.
In the end we got three exceptional pieces handcrafted woodwork. The walnut they used is beautiful, and the quality of the work is outstanding. The pieces they created have become my favorite part of our house. Our guests always comment how beautiful the work is as well. I will use DC for all of my work in the future.
"[member name removed] was and is a great client! It was a privilege to work for him. Thank you! Let me build your custom stereo system with custom turntable!"
All three vanities are made out of walnut, and are very sturdy as well as beautiful looking! He also had his fabricator install the granite tops, and a plumber who came and fixed a small plumbing issue under very short notice. We really appreciated Dan's excellent level of customer service not only at the front end, but that he continued to provide support even after he did the installation. We are planning on redoing our basement in a few years, and when we do, I know who we are calling for all our cabinetry needs. In the mean time, if we need any carpentry work needed, I have him on speed dial. So we had two five foot and one four foot walnut cabinet built for $4,800. Dan isn't cheap (and he will tell you that the first day he speaks to you), but his work is so worth it! I am recommending him to friends and anybody who asks :)
Dan was very flexible and quick to respond when I needed to contact him. He also referred me to some outstanding resources for tile, plumbing, electrical, tear-out and flooring. Each one of them I will use again if the need arises. All were skilled, trustworthy, professional, friendly and fairly priced.
I cannot express enough positive feedback about Dan. He is very busy, but doesn't let his customers end up on the back- burner. His work is beautiful! My cabinets are solid, well put together, sturdy and top-notch! Dan prides himself on details and spent a great deal of time hanging the doors, making sure they were straight...and did the same with the cabinet hardware. If you want a contractor who listens, Dan is your man. He wants you to be completely happy with your cabinet installation, and will work with you until you are completely satisfied. He also is interested in quality, and will not cheapen down materials to save a buck if he doesn't believe it's the right thing to do. He takes pride in his work and it shows.
Remodeling a kitchen is tough, but it is so much easier if you choose the right contractor. I chose the right one when I went with DC Cabinets. If the ratings above offered A+, I would have selected them. I am thrilled with my new kitchen! Thanks Dan!!
P.S. He was average in cost on the remodel work but 35% higher than the lowest bid on cabinets. I'm glad I took the less traveled, higher cost road. The cost reflects the product. And the product is un matched compared to what else I had looked at. WORTH IT!
2 week job became 2 1/2 months.
Granite counter tops are scratched and rough in places.
Paint job in bathroom was sloppy. Some areas weren't covered. Paint splatters on tub and sink. Quality of shelves and installation poor!
"Well, despite our best efforts I guess you cant please them all. I have a signed clarification on the finish approving what she had picked. And we were actually in and out in under 8 days. The return calls were my bad for doing work unrelated to the contract and tryning to be nice. I have pictures of the kitchen that Ive shown to other clients and I have actually sold similar products off those pictures. I was dealing with an alcoholic that cried alot and would refuse us entry to the property. On several occasions we were barred from work because she just didnt want us to make nosie those days, that would certainly effect the completion time. I feel we went above and beyond the call of duty with this client. I feel she left this review, after having told me she left a good one(LIE) because I told her I was unavaliable to come fix a fence for her. She was so upset that I couldnt rush right over to do it, she hung up on me. What can I say... There are impossible people to please out there.....I would refer to the reviews from my sober clients with realistic expectations."
"Im actually alittle caught off guard. Yes the job was small, but I feel I was diligent in staying in touch with her in regards to my schedule. We were and are very busy and I was up front with the time and when It would be possible for me and another person to go rehang the cabinet doors. I remember quite a bit of other work going on at the same time, as well as a tenant of theirs coming up stairs and yelling at the tile people for working to loud. I want to say I initiated every call with the exception of two. I didnt sugar coat anything as of time, and never do. But the work was still A+. I would have to apologize for any misunderstanding. I feel I did what I said I would, when I said I would do it. I dont feel any job is to small. And I appreciated her business."
The vanities are gorgeous and rock solid.
The framing of the mirrors was an after thought, which Dan did for us at no charge.
In general, I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone and I feel they delivered a superior product at a fair price in a timely fashion.
We sincerely appreciate the result even though the completion of our kitchen remodel had some difficulties. Part of these were due to our choice of a counter-top subcontractor (not one recommended by DC Cabinets). Notwithstanding our choice of the sub-contractor and difficulties that arose because of a bad counter-top installation, Dan Cano and his colleague Jim were the consummate professionals and went out of their way to assist in fixing the problems that arose and completing the integration of the counter-tops to our complete satisfaction. Another issue arose because a provider of the white paint for our cabinets sent different paint and quot;sheensand quot; part way through the remodel that only became apparent on installation. Again, Dan and Jim re-did every cabinet and drawer that needed it until the paint work was fully integrated and matched. Their persistence in completing this project and the repainting of the cabinets until they were fully correct and matched was professional and without excuse. We have been involved with various remodels and construction over the years and the issue is not whether or not issues and difficulties will arise (they almost always will) but how they are dealt with. We give DC Cabinets very high marks for the professional way that they dealt with the challenges our remodel presented and for the end product and recommend them highly.
The kitchen is contemporary and very open now. Lower cabinets and 10 ft island are a walnut with dark espresso stain, and the upper cabinetry is white. I had worked with a kitchen designer earlier so had a pretty general idea of what I wanted. We wanted some rather unusual things, this wasn't just standard cabinetry that we were replacing. We have two 8-ft high cabinets that frame the ends of one wall of cabinetry, an 8-ft bookshelf on another wall, a bay window that we were covering but still wanted to keep the deep set counter. He listened to what I wanted and didn't try to change my mind like some of the other contractors tried to do -- he went with our plans and the finished product is wonderful. Dan took my plans, made some suggestions, showed me how the two-tone colors would look, came out several times to check on progress of subs and take more measurements, and everything came together beautifully. We LOVE our new kitchen. I wouldn't change a thing -- it's perfect.
We are pleased with the results. One daughter who has been away just walked in and exclaimed and quot;Wow, this is really beautiful.and quot; We are pleased with the workmanship, and our new mahogany cabinets.
When Dan gets down to work, he does it with a frightful combination of efficiency (he cares about your dollar) and craftsmanship. He takes pride in his shop's work (which is earned). We had a few outside setbacks on the job -- caused by us, not by Dan. He went with the flow easily and made adjustments. He kept us in the loop every step of the way. Phone calls, text messages and pictures of the progress.
We did custom designs and colors -- Dan figured it all out and did it beautifully. We couldn't be happier with the end product. We had shopped for months to find a bed with a drawer base, but could never find what we wanted. Dan made exactly what we wanted and provided lots of solutions to those and quot;Have you thought of...and quot; questions.
Plus he writes up everything contractually. Could not recommend DC Cabinets more.
