Excellent. Price was right and work was of very good quality. Complete sanding, staining, and sealing of a very beat up hardwood floor. Contractor is conscientious, polite, and professional. Contractor did work himself without subs.

After giving me a verbal bid Craig said he would e-mail me a formal bid and that he could start Monday. I didn't receive the bid and after making several calls I finally got hold of him. He seemed apologetic and said his sander broke down on another job. He said it would be Thursday before he could start my job. I called him again later in the week to verify he was starting on Thursday, and he said that he had me down on the schedule for the next Monday. Didn't hear from him all weekend. On Monday morning around 8:30 a.m. he called and said and quot;are you still planning on us?and quot; - I said and quot;yes, I guess so but I hadn't heard from you and I'd never gotten a written bid and quot; He said 'oh, I will send you a bidand quot;.He said and quot;I really don't need to send you a bid cuz it will be what we talked about - which was $950 for the floors and $450 for the crown molding and $100 for the quarter roundand quot;. When the bid came, it was $95.00 more than we discussed. His bid indicated he wanted half down, so I thought we would discuss the discrepancy in price when he asked for that payment. He never asked, and so we had the discussion at the end of the work. Craig had a sub install the crown molding on Monday. He came at 11:30, finished up at 5:00 and didn't caulk or fill in the nail holes, as he was supposed to do. When I mentioned this to Craig he said he could try and get him back to do it. Later, he back-pedaled and said that really wasn't included in the bid, even though the bid said and quot;fill all gaps and nail holesand quot;. Craig started on the floors on Tuesday and finished on Friday. They looked okay except on further inspection, after I paid him, I noticed that there were lap lines and streaking, which means he spread the top coat too thin. He really needs to come back and re-coat to get rid of the lap lines. I called and left a message about this and he has never returned my phone calls. All I can say is if you plan to use this company, make sure you get your bid well before they start the work and and make sure he doesn't try to increase your bill mid-way through the job. His non-responsiveness, to me, shows he does not stand behind his work.
Response from Craig Barber Floors
"This customer called me every day, sometimes twice a day during all hours and even during the weekend prior to any work done on his project. Initially when we first spoke I told him that I would try to fit him into my busy schedule but it would most likely be a week before I could get to his project. I could tell from past experience working with customers like him that no matter what I did or how good the work turned out he was going to be a problem. Sure enough when everything was said and done he refused to pay me for the additional items he wanted me to do well after the arrangement we initially discussed. $1500 barely covered my labor costs and as a matter of fact I ended up paying for the base trim and basically installed it for free. I don't generally respond to reviews however in this particular case I don't like it when someone makes up lies because he is too cheap and dishonest and tries to get something for nothing."

I found Craig on Angie's List because of the good reviews on him. We hired him to finish the stairwell and some molding and transitions.
Craig and his crew moved our carpet out, cut the stairs, which were covered with carpet. He noticed the squeaking noise of our stairs and decided to fix it before installing the floor and stair noses. He also made custom transition pieces, which look like the finished product that you would buy for ~50 bucks.
His goal is to get the job done as perfect as possible, without rushing or any shortcuts. We greatly appreciate his hard work and professionalism. We will definitely hire him again!

It went very well. This 44 year old house threw some curve balls at Craig which he fielded quite handily.

Craig's crew removed appliances, furniture, carpeting, pads, baseboard, and a (concrete?) tile floor in the kitchen. During the demo phase Craig discovered that each step was missing plywood risers and tops so he rebuilt the staircase (6 stairs). Removal of the kitchen floor tile resulted in the area being lower than the rest of the raw floor. Craig installed a large sheet of the plywood to cover the entire kitchen area before laying down the boards.

I had asked that the handrails at the home's front entry point and on the stairs retain their dark finish, a nice blend with the hickory, so Craig removed the spindles from the stairway banister, then replaced them near the very end of the job. They look awesome, even better than I'd hoped for.

They installed the boards, sanded and sealed (no stain). After the floors dried they installed baseboard and finishing wood beneath cabinets. After attending to the tiniest of details, his crew moved the appliances and furniture back into our home.

Craig is an artist and a perfectionist. He was attentive to the smallest detail. He went that extra mile and my husband and I will recommend him every chance we get. Simply put--we could not be happier with our beautiful new floors.

Craig showed up as scheduled, provided options for colors and finising materials. After we made our selections he performed the work efficiently and professionally. We noticed a few bubbles in one small area after the foor was completed; he fixed these immediately.

The floors look beautiful and the finish is strong.
Our only complaint is that we paid them and they didn't come to finish the last little touch ups.
They did work really hard to make sure the work was finished in our time frame and they were very nice to work with.

It went great. Craig and his crew listened to my concerns, what I wanted the final product to look like, durability, etc etc. His bid was very reasonable and he kept to it. The work took a bit longer than expected but nothing craizy....when they removed all of the carpet and padding they found a few areas that needed unexpected attention or replacement... Craig communicated all this to me quickly and the estimate was adjusted VERY little to take care of the additional work and materials. Note: I was basically out of town during most of the process and it still went great! No problem whatsoever recommending Craig. His work is great, he is knowledgeable, does much of the detail work himself and is a friendly guy to boot. You can't go wrong with him.

Where to begin...after a month of phone tag I should have known better than to allow Craig Barber flooring to do my install job. It was summer however, and everyone was busy. Craig was going out of town so his right hand man was assigned to the job. After showing him all the spots that needed fixed in the floor and getting most of the floor prepped ourselves 2 men began the job. After 8 hours of work there was little to show for it and I came home to Mike complaining about the difficulty of the job. At the end of day 2 there was some mold found in the kitchen and Mike would not do anything until we treated it. So my husband and I spent the night treating the mold, not to mention buying all the supplies including the saw blade for his saw. At the beginning of day 3 Mike let us know that he does not do tile, which at the beginning we thought that was included in the price since we had discussed it. At the end of day 3 the floor was still not finished...there was only approximately 800 square feet total. When we discussed a payment change since he would not be doing anything in the bathroom he said he would lay laminate in there, which we declined. He then continued to complain about how hard the job was and I should ask my husband since 1/3 of the house had already been done prior to Mike getting hired. This was offensive, I explained that it is not that difficult because I had done 1/3 of the house by myself. Day 4 began with Mike complaining about the bathroom because there was a subfloor issue around the toilet that he did not want to fix. I was adamant that he fix the subfloor even if he didn't do the floor because that is the reason we couldn't do everything ourselves. After a long day of texting back and forth and Mike trying to get out of fixing the subfloor we justed wanted to pay him and get him out of our lives. At the end he fixed 3 square feet of subfloor damage (one of the spots fixed was in the wrong area), installed less than 800 square feet of laminate, and did no finishing work. We now have a master bath with subfloor only, a weak subfloor, and no mouldings on any of the walls.

"I am not sure why these people gave me a review ? Initially I did look at their project and gave them a general idea of what it would cost ,give or take. By the time they decided to finally have the work done ,after not having a definitive starting date, my family and I were heading out for our summer vacation. I explained my situation and gave them the phone number of another contractor that may be interested in doing the job. I told them that they would have to make arrangements with him and that this would be between the other contractor and themselves. I did not receive a single penny nor did I perform any work on their project."

I called Craig for an estimate and he came out within a couple days. His estimate sounded great to me though he was the only person I was able to contact. I did contact 2 other people but was not called back for one and stood up on the other. Craig was very polite and let me know everything he would be able to do. When the carpets were removed after his team had sanded the floor, he mentioned the old baseboards and how I could get some at Home Depot and he'd install them for me. He was upset he didn't think of it before so he could sand to the wall without the baseboards but you can't notice unless you look for it. He was very accommodating and the work was completed in about 5 days.

Criag was available by phone and very responsive to all my questions and concerns. They arrived when they said they would arrive and it took just as long as he said it would. He charged me exactly what he said he would. My floors look great. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about my experience with Craig Barber Floors. I got exactly what I expected to get.

We called 3 places from Angie's list and Craig was the middle bid. The reason we picked him was he was the only one that came in and said, "I will put a piece of wood on the top stair to the basement to give it a more finished look" SOLD. Since we haven't done the anything with the stairs it is a nice jumping off point for when we do. It took him a little longer than he thought but he did such a great job it was worth it to us to take a little longer and do it right than to hurry through the process and make a mess of an already great job. He was really hard to get a hold of we had to call him several times for his bid but it was worth it in the end. He was very pleasant to work with and cleaned up everyday before he left, if you didn't see the progress you never would have known he was there. We would pick him again

Craig meticulously spot sanded the scratches and then carefully refinished the sanded areas to perfectly match the rest of the floor. He did a wonderful job in both rooms, and was very professional and polite. I'd recommend Craig to anyone looking to have their floors refinished.

My husband and I relocated to the Salt Lake City area from San Francisco. We closed on our new home a week before we were scheduled to move in and wanted to get the hardwood floors refinished by the time we moved in. I called several different hardwood floor companies to get a rough estimate of how much it would cost to refinish the floors. Craig was by far the most helpful during our conversation. He patiently walked me through several different options, detailing their cost difference, long-term effect on our floors and how they would affect the look of the floors. He also walked me through in detail their process for refinishing. He was very nice, professional and helpful.
After the initial phone calls, I asked Craig and one other company to meet a family member at our house to give us a bid on the floors. Craig was very punctual and offered the same level of professionalism and service to our family member that he had to me over the phone. As soon as he left the house, he called me and carefully walked me through his bid, again answering any questions I had and describing in detail what he was recommending. He was also more than happy to send us a contract that we could sign before he began work.
Craig was more expensive than the other company, but his service, professionalism and reputation made us feel that he was a better choice.
Craig began work on the floors right away. Throughout the entire process, he was very professional and was very good about contacting us to let us know how things were going. We didn't actually get to see the floors until the day they were being completed, but Craig was so helpful and communicative during the whole process that we didn't worry once about the job he was doing. When we actually saw the floors, everything Craig had told us was accurate. The floors are now done and they look beautiful!
It was a pleasure working with Craig. His professionalism and service were especially helpful considering that we couldn't be here in person while he was working. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and use him again in the future.

We received bid estimates from several contractors to refinish the red oak floors in our living room and dining room (approx. 400 sq ft). Craig responded to our bid request promptly, stopped by the house a few days later, and sent us the bid shortly thereafter. Of all the contractors we met with, Craig impressed us the most with his professionalism and attention to detail. He explained the scope of the work needed and made sure we understood all the steps involved as well as how long each phase would take (important as we were simultaneously preparing to move into the home). Craig actually worked with us to make the project affordable and we felt comfortable selecting him to do the work. The sanding, staining, and refinishing began on the date we requested. Craig carefully sanded away decades worth of "gunk" that had built up on the floors. He even sanded the coat closet (not included in the original measurements/estimate) just so that it wouldn't look dingy in comparison to the newly refinished floor. He takes great pride in his work and doesn't skimp or cut corners. His attention to detail is meticulous and we were very impressed with the manner in which he worked. He cleaned up after each phase of the project and all dust was carefully contained and/or removed. Best of all, after the work was done, the floors looked absolutely gorgeous. We immediately asked Craig if he would take on the job of refinishing the bedroom floors as well. I would recommend Craig without reservations to anyone who is looking to have someone take care of their wood floors.

Since we were replacing virtually all of the hardwood on the main floor of our Prairie Bungalow, we elected to do the job in two segments. We moved all of our furniture to the back half of the house while the front was re-floored, then repeated the process for the back half. This was a significant undertaking and added time and energy to the project! The amount of 90 year old dirt and grime that came up with the old flooring was significant! We believe that some of it as probably old coal dust and soot.

Overall, Craig did an excellent job. He started and completed the project on time, was personable, reliable and enjoyable to work with. The project was a significant undertaking and a major disruption of our home, but the end result was well worth it! The new floor not only looks beautiful, but has transformed how our old home feels and sounds.

I would certainly use Craig Barber again and recommend this services.

Craig responded very quickly to an estimate request. We were very impressed with his honesty and knowledge (our hardwood floors are 101 years old and we weren't sure if they had another sanding left in them). He discussed all of our options, and was forthright about what we could expect with respect to smell and time out of the house (this was of particular concern as I was pregnant at the time). But then we didn't receive a bid from him for several days--nearly a week. I had to call him to follow up. This was concerning and disappointing after a great first impression. In the end, his bid wasn't the lowest we received, but reading reviews about his attention to detail and our initial in-person impression was enough. Once we signed the deal, they acted quickly and did an EXCELLENT job. Way beyond our expectations. I definitely recommend this company.
