"This customer called me every day, sometimes twice a day during all hours and even during the weekend prior to any work done on his project. Initially when we first spoke I told him that I would try to fit him into my busy schedule but it would most likely be a week before I could get to his project. I could tell from past experience working with customers like him that no matter what I did or how good the work turned out he was going to be a problem. Sure enough when everything was said and done he refused to pay me for the additional items he wanted me to do well after the arrangement we initially discussed. $1500 barely covered my labor costs and as a matter of fact I ended up paying for the base trim and basically installed it for free. I don't generally respond to reviews however in this particular case I don't like it when someone makes up lies because he is too cheap and dishonest and tries to get something for nothing."
Craig and his crew moved our carpet out, cut the stairs, which were covered with carpet. He noticed the squeaking noise of our stairs and decided to fix it before installing the floor and stair noses. He also made custom transition pieces, which look like the finished product that you would buy for ~50 bucks.
His goal is to get the job done as perfect as possible, without rushing or any shortcuts. We greatly appreciate his hard work and professionalism. We will definitely hire him again!
It went very well. This 44 year old house threw some curve balls at Craig which he fielded quite handily.
Craig's crew removed appliances, furniture, carpeting, pads, baseboard, and a (concrete?) tile floor in the kitchen. During the demo phase Craig discovered that each step was missing plywood risers and tops so he rebuilt the staircase (6 stairs). Removal of the kitchen floor tile resulted in the area being lower than the rest of the raw floor. Craig installed a large sheet of the plywood to cover the entire kitchen area before laying down the boards.
I had asked that the handrails at the home's front entry point and on the stairs retain their dark finish, a nice blend with the hickory, so Craig removed the spindles from the stairway banister, then replaced them near the very end of the job. They look awesome, even better than I'd hoped for.
They installed the boards, sanded and sealed (no stain). After the floors dried they installed baseboard and finishing wood beneath cabinets. After attending to the tiniest of details, his crew moved the appliances and furniture back into our home.
Craig is an artist and a perfectionist. He was attentive to the smallest detail. He went that extra mile and my husband and I will recommend him every chance we get. Simply put--we could not be happier with our beautiful new floors.
Our only complaint is that we paid them and they didn't come to finish the last little touch ups.
They did work really hard to make sure the work was finished in our time frame and they were very nice to work with.
"I am not sure why these people gave me a review ? Initially I did look at their project and gave them a general idea of what it would cost ,give or take. By the time they decided to finally have the work done ,after not having a definitive starting date, my family and I were heading out for our summer vacation. I explained my situation and gave them the phone number of another contractor that may be interested in doing the job. I told them that they would have to make arrangements with him and that this would be between the other contractor and themselves. I did not receive a single penny nor did I perform any work on their project."
was running late, he would call to let us know. He and his crew did
quality work and we are very happy with the hardwood floors he
installed.
After the initial phone calls, I asked Craig and one other company to meet a family member at our house to give us a bid on the floors. Craig was very punctual and offered the same level of professionalism and service to our family member that he had to me over the phone. As soon as he left the house, he called me and carefully walked me through his bid, again answering any questions I had and describing in detail what he was recommending. He was also more than happy to send us a contract that we could sign before he began work.
Craig was more expensive than the other company, but his service, professionalism and reputation made us feel that he was a better choice.
Craig began work on the floors right away. Throughout the entire process, he was very professional and was very good about contacting us to let us know how things were going. We didn't actually get to see the floors until the day they were being completed, but Craig was so helpful and communicative during the whole process that we didn't worry once about the job he was doing. When we actually saw the floors, everything Craig had told us was accurate. The floors are now done and they look beautiful!
It was a pleasure working with Craig. His professionalism and service were especially helpful considering that we couldn't be here in person while he was working. I would definitely recommend him to anyone and use him again in the future.
Overall, Craig did an excellent job. He started and completed the project on time, was personable, reliable and enjoyable to work with. The project was a significant undertaking and a major disruption of our home, but the end result was well worth it! The new floor not only looks beautiful, but has transformed how our old home feels and sounds.
I would certainly use Craig Barber again and recommend this services.
