Totally shaved my pomeranian. Looks completely ridiculous when I stressed to not cut his fur except his face. I am so heart broken. They completely ruined his coat and due to shave shock it is not going to grow back right. I am crying I'm so upset
Response from Brickyard Kennel
"Upon leaving your dog for his groom, you were provided with sample hair lengths to ensure the groomer clipped your dog's hair to the desired length. The groomer cut the hair to the length you requested, even after seeing a sample of how it would look. While we apologize that you were unhappy with the groom, please understand all we have to go by is the customer's instructions. If you also expect the groomer to be clairvoyant, you have the wrong place."

This was the third time I’ve taken my dogs to a kennel. Every time I’ve been dissatisfied with the care of my fur babies till now. The cameras work I was able to see my dogs. I watched them clean up dog messes quickly. My dogs came back home clean and without any bite marks or kennel cough, both of which happened at the other two kennels. My dogs will definitely be going back when I’m out of town. So glad I found this place.
Response from Brickyard Kennel
"Thanks so much for your kind review. We enjoy having your 2 dogs with us! We are so pleased you enjoy the day care cameras! We switched camera systems last year, and the company managing the streaming video has 24/7 technical support available, if you ever have issues with them. I am sorry to hear how disappointed you were in the past. If at any time in the future, you have questions or concerns, please ask for the owner/manager, and we will address those concerns immediately. We pride ourselves on our customer service, and want you to feel comfortable bringing your dogs to us time and again. As always, we know you have lots of choices when it comes to caring for your dogs. Thank you so much for choosing Brickyard Kennel!"

WARNING! Do not trust your pets with this kennel. Please read this horror story before doing business there. My lab was there for a five night stay and when I picked him up, he had a large protrusion on his side, about 6 x 7 x 3 inches, a temperature of 104, and lethargic. Marjorie, the owner, handed him off to me without saying a word about it, and when I noticed, she told me repeatedly that I had dropped him off in that condition, and that it was a tumor. She absolutely insisted this was the case but the fact is she was 100% wrong, and was lying through her teeth. He was completely healthy at drop off and this abscess condition developed during his stay. I took Murphy straight to the vet who performed surgery right away on the abscess. He's going to be OK, but no thanks to Marjorie and Brickyard Kennel. Not only did they ignore my dog's very obvious need for immediate care, but she had the soulless nerve to lie straight to my face insisting that I had brought him in like that. It's outrageous.
Response from Brickyard Kennel
"I have emailed you photos and video of your dog, showing your dog came into our facility with a protrusion on its side. I also emailed you video of your dog playing just 10 minutes before you picked it up -- your dog was most certainly not lethargic. In fact, it was very playful the entire stay. Because the protrusion was there when you came in, we had no reason to suspect you were unaware of it. The photos we sent you show the protrusion was quite prominent and obvious when you checked your dog into the kennel, and during day care minutes 45 minutes later. As a pet owner, I know the guilt I have felt when I did not see changes in my pets until someone else pointed them out to me, or when I noticed them after not seeing my pets for several days -- it is difficult to notice any changes when we see them day in, and day out. However, Brickyard Kennel cannot be held responsible for what happened to your dog prior to coming into the kennel. Out of an abundance of concern, however, we called your vet to inquire whether your dog had a protrusion at its last vet visit. They knew nothing at the time, but called me back when you brought the dog in after leaving the kennel. Apparently, the concern shown by your vet clinic upset you, and you angrily accused the vet of "being in cahoots" with Brickyard Kennel, which is utterly ridiculous. You then refused to accept the vet's diagnosis and offer of treatment. That said, we paid for that vet visit for the sake of customer goodwill, and out of concern for your dog. After we sent you copies of the video and photos, you removed the reviews from other review sites. It would be great if you could remove this one, as well."

We just completed our first full week at Brickyard Kennels and I am very happy with the results that I see in my dog. Brickyard Kennels has a staff that truly treats each pet as if they were their own. My dog Max went goes to day care and is involved in obedience classes at Brickyard. The improvement that I have seen in my dog is amazing. Max has become fully attentive and is an active listener to commands. His interactive skills have improved as well, and he is obedient and on task when I have visitors over to my house. I have appreciated the attentiveness to detail that the Brickyard staff gives to the teaching element. The staff approaches the pet with gentleness and the desire to teach desired and acceptable behaviors. The outcome has greatly influenced Max’s positive behavior changes. The environment of Brickyard kennels is also conducive to a welcoming and safe place for the pet. Max will get anxious when entering a new environment, but Brickyard has created a safe and trusting place for Max. Brickyard Kennels goes above and beyond to care for the animals and create a lasting change within their lives. I have appreciated the professionalism and genuine care that the staff has shown to me and to my dog Max.
Response from Brickyard Kennel
"Thank you so much for your kind review! As you know, we love having Max in our "Progressive Day Care" program, for dogs who need a help before going to Day Care on a full-time basis. We are, as you know, so impressed that Max has done SO well, after just a week. At the rate Max is improving, It will not be more than 3-4 weeks before he is a full-time Day Care dog!! We know you have lots of choices when it comes to caring for your dog. Thank you so much for choosing Brickyard Kennel!!"

I had been taking my dogs here for several years and while we never had any major issues, I was always worried about leaving them there mostly because they just seem so disorganized. On 7/30/17 we picked our 2 dogs up after a 2-night stay. They handed the dogs to us and we put them in the car, everything seemed normal. As soon as we got home, we immediately noticed that our oldest dog who is diabetic was having a hard time walking and kept falling over. I immediately called them to go over his insulin doses to make sure he hadn’t missed a dose. It seemed he had received all of his doses so we rushed him to the animal hospital, he was having seizures now and this all happened within about 15 minutes of getting home. He was seizing when we arrived so they wanted me to call the kennel to find out when he had last eaten. The tech said he had personally fed him and given insulin that morning, however he couldn’t confirm that he had actually eaten it because he leaves them and someone else comes around to clean up leftovers. Why would they not make sure a diabetic dog had eaten before giving insulin?? I asked him to go find the food we had left behind while I waited. (There should have been no food left, I started measuring when we left them there so that I would know if they had missed any meals) He came back and said that there was exactly 1 cup left, which immediately told me that they had missed a meal. He could not explain this. The doc said missing a meal could have made it worse but the reason he was hypoglycemic was due to an overdose. His blood sugar was so low that they couldn't even get a reading! We had to leave our dog to stay overnight at the hospital, I called back and left a message for the owner Margie later that afternoon. She never called that night, or even the next day. The following day I tried to call her again and had to leave a message, after waiting all day again for a call back I tried again from a different phone # (I think she was avoiding me) and got through to her. She was nice (even though her story was different from the vet tech and didn’t make any sense) and asked me to send her the hospital bill. Great! Too good to be true? The next morning she called me and was very rude, she said that after investigating she saw that I had written the Insulin dose as 3 mL (I remember being confused about what to call the unit, the only unit of measure I could see on the syringe was mL so that‘s what I wrote) so it was my fault. She said that was a lethal dose so the tech just assumed I must have meant .3 mL so that’s what they had been giving him. ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! If there was any question about the insulin he should have CALLED ME TO CLARIFY, not just pull a dose out of his ***!!!! That was 10 TIMES what he was supposed to be getting and if they had just taken 2 minutes to call me this could have all been avoided!!!!!! Also if that was true, why didn’t the vet tech explain that to me when I called him from the hospital trying to figure out what the **** had happened?? Also my dog had been there before, couldn’t they have at least looked in his chart at a med card from a previous stay?? I honestly don’t believe that story either, if he had received 4 doses 10 times what he should have had I think he would be dead. He would have at least been lethargic the entire time he was there so why didn’t anyone call me about it??? She was very loud and rude and ended up hanging up on me. I will be taking this to small claims, the bill was over $1200 and was entirely their fault. WE WILL NEVER LEAVE OUR PETS HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!
Response from Brickyard Kennel
"I have patiently waited for you to take down this review, but since you have not, I am more than happy to respond. First, let me point out that you sued us in a court of law, and LOST. Badly. We had plenty of evidence with which to defend ourselves, including documentation showing exactly what amount of insulin you wanted us to give your dog. Second, let me say we handle insulin-dependent dogs and cats every single day. We are quite good at it. In fact, I hire specially-trained and educated veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants simply because we want to ensure your pets are getting the greatest care we can provide. You sued us in Third District Court of Salt Lake City for the amount of your vet bills, plus costs. Rather than settle, which is what you assumed we would do, we chose to take the matter to trial. Based on our clearly and carefully documented records, as well as state laws related to the practice of veterinary medicine without a license, the Court found that it was YOU, in fact, who was at fault for your dog'[Member Information Removed] medical issues, because you, and only you, completed a medication authorization form, and included specific dosage of insulin to give your dog. YOU stated how often to give that amount, and YOU signed the form, as owner of the dog, consenting to only follow YOUR instructions. The Court clearly expressed to you that Brickyard Kennel did everything they could, and did nothing wrong. Yes -- we did indeed lower the dose, because it was clearly wrong and would have killed your dog. WE SAVED YOUR DOG'[Member Information Removed] LIFE!!! We are not allowed to use previous consent forms, as insulin doses can change significantly. You were unavailable by telephone. Again, we SAVED your dog' life!! You should have been grateful we caught your error, but you were not. Instead, you chose to blame us for your mistake -- you even told us we "should have just given the dose you gave us." Why would we do that when we knew it would kill your dog?? It is difficult to admit when we are wrong. But I, personally, do it every day, in both my personal and business lives. Nonetheless, in this case, we were not wrong. You were. Sometimes, customers must likewise bring themselves to admit wrong. Now, although you have been a long-time customer, and we have loved having you and your dog with us, this solitary experience has shown us you will never be happy, even after we saved your dog'[Member Information Removed] life from your own error. No business wants a customer who is willing to sue, even after being proven wrong in a court of law. Including us. We wish you luck in finding a new facility for your dog."

I have been boarding my dogs here for a couple of years now. I have always been treated courteously and promptly when I walk in. Both my dogs were adopted from shelters and are very anxious while being boarded. I have boarded at a few other places around town and Brickyard is the only place my dogs come back relaxed. I feel like they are in good hands.

Response from Brickyard Kennel
"Thanks so much for your great review! I am so sorry we did not cut your dog's hair short enough, but you can always mention that when you pick up your dog, and if the groomer has not gone home for the day, he or she will happily trim it to suit you. I will put a note in the computer for your next groom, indicating you want it shorter -- you will also want to remind the groomer when you drop off for your next appointment. In the future, if you have any concerns about your dog's groom, please ask to speak to the manager on duty, and we will do our best to address whatever problems you have. We are so grateful for your business, and want to ensure your satisfaction, and that of your dog, above all!! We know you have lots of choices when it comes to grooming your dog. So, we have used Brickyard a couple of times when we have had to leave the dogs and cats for 3+ weeks at a time. It is nerve wrecking to leave your fur babies anywhere for that long, but thanks to Margie and her staff we feel that the little ones are in good and safe hands. We opt for having the dogs in doggie day care while we are gone, which means that the dogs get to play for hours each day in 2 outside areas and 1 inside area (complete with a kiddie pool!) while we watch the fun online thanks to their web cams. It is such a relief to be able to see the dogs daily - we sure miss them while traveling! The cats are in another section of the kennel, there is no camera there, but It seems that the cats are taken good care of as well. We get one of the cats groomed before pick up, and they do an awesome job at the lion cut :) We drive 4 hours with dogs, cats, and kids just to board the furry ones at Brickyard, it is worth it to us to know that they will be safe. We have recommended Brickyard to many pet owners, and will continue to do so. We actually found Brickyard through a website - they came highly recommended and we understand why :)

"Thanks so much for choosing Brickyard Kennel! We are so pleased that you enjoyed your experience, and hope to see you and your kitty again soon! Please know that all cats that board with us are given lots of playtime outside of their enclosure, while keeping them safe, and away from any other cats that may also be boarding. My daughters spend a lot of time at the kennel with me, and love to hang out in the cattery, playing with and talking to all of the cats! Thanks again for your kind review. We had our pug boarded here for a week while we were out of town, he had recently been in to the vet and required special attention. They took the time to give our dog the requested extra care he needed.

"Thank you so much for your kind words. However, I note that you gave us an overall grade of "B," and hope you will tell us if there is anything we can do, next time, to improve our services. If so, please let us know and we will do our best to follow through. At Brickyard Kennel, we realize how expensive it can be to board your pet at your vet's office. So, we do everything possible to provide extra special care to those pets who are under the care of a veterinarian, as long as it is within our power and skill set. We are always happy to stay in communication with your veterinarian, when necessary, to coordinate any changes in care with the vet and our staff. To that end, Brickyard Kennel employs kennel technicians who are educated and trained in the fields of veterinary technology and veterinary assisting to ensure your pets needs are met. Thanks so much for choosing Brickyard Kennel. We hope to see you and your pet again soon."

We have taken our dog there several times for doggie daycare. This place is clean and they let you go through the place to see  where your dog can play have playtime. They have a monitoring system so you can see what your dog is doing and how well he is getting along. We have had him groomed there also. They did a great job. I can tell the dog is having a good time there because he doesn't fight us when we take him back.  When we are not able to walk the dog we take him there. He always gets along better with the dogs in the neighborhood when he has spent time there. We will continue to take him there it makes him happy.  He needs  a  lot of activity and they provide it. When we don't take him for a while he acts up more.
