Dan did a great job!! We had an awful driveway before but Dan created a beautiful new one. He is very dedicated to detail and is proud of his work (as he should be!) I would recommend him to anyone! Thanks, Dan!

We had a great experience working with Dan and his crew at ABC Contractors. Dan replaced the front steps and part of the walk at the front of our house. The quality of the work is excellent and was done for a fair price. I look forward to working with Dan on other projects at our home.

I contacted ABC Construction based on first reading the H.A. ratings and reviews about ABC construction. My experience with Dan Marlow of ABC was excellent across the board. He followed up promptly, answered all my questions along with giving me a fair quote for the job. He worked with me to schedule the project, then showed up when he said he would and did the job. The new driveway was completed from demo to poured and finished concrete in 2 days. I would definitely use ABC again and have already recommended him to my neighbors. Thanks Dan!

Dan and his crew were excellent to work with and did quality work. I wouldnâ t hesitate to hire them again or recommend them to a friend. Our project was to replace our driveway and a cement pad adjacent to it. Very happy with the results and feel the pricing was fair.

They did a nice job and used quality cement. My building-contractor neighbor commended their work. Dan was very nice to work with. Check with your local authorities about permits and their expectations.

Dan was awesome! He and his crew did an excellent job on my concrete project and took the extra time to make sure it looked great. Plus, he ended up using more concrete than planned, but he didn't charge more. One of the best experiences ever.

Dan and his crew completed my patio as scheduled. The crew was courteous, and even helped me with another project. The job required moving all the material by shovel and wheel barrow . The end result exceeded our expectations. I would definitely use this contractor again.

Very hard working and courteous crew. The job required removing paver stones and an old concrete slab, then pouring new cement for an enlarged patio. I was surprised how quickly everything went, and how carefully and neatly everyone worked. I have recommended Dan Marlow to friends, and would use him again myself.

Dan made many fundamental errors when pouring my driveway. Besides an immediate poor appearance, these errors compromised the integrity of the concrete. He signed a contract "guarantying" his work for 5 years. He has refused to stand behind his guarantee. If you want a quality result that will stand the test of time, I would NOT recommend this company. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!

Very disappointing experience. I had our driveway extended to the side, which was a gravel RV pad. I wanted it cemented in, in addition to adding a concrete slab behind our side gate where our garbage cans sit and also a concrete ramp from our driveway to our front door for my disabled husbands wheelchair. We had recently had some new fencing and a gate installed at the side of our house and was told initially that it would not be a problem to put the cement slab in behind it, that the new gate would not be a problem. The crew that came tore out the new gate and slightly damaged it, the owner said he did not authorize the crew to do that so he wouldn't pay for the damage. Let me tell you about how we had the gate installed. We had a cement strip poured because our dog is a digger and wanted to keep her in the yard. The fence company put rebar in the strip to go into the posts. I didn't even realize the rebar was there until the guy tearing out our new fence and gate at the side of my house were complaining about how good it was put in! I just about lost it! I was told they would not tear it out! They left cement splatters on the side of my house, that are still there. The first ramp they installed was much too steep and had to be torn out and remade longer for safety. Originally he wanted to charge me for the extra concrete, but didn't, though he did try to make me feel guilty for it. I was told it would take a few days for everything to be done. It took over a month and during this time we were not able to use the front door to our house. The crew left broken concrete and rocks all over, not to mention cigarette butts (we don't smoke). Getting ahold of the owner or the crew during this time was a nightmare. It has been over a year since this was done and the concrete on the ramp has cracked. I think the owner allowed a lower grade of concrete to be used for the ramp since it had to be redone. Since it is for my husbands wheelchair access and it is now cracking, I am not too happy. The RV pad and back slab are pretty good and I am mostly happy with the outcome there. Although, there is a spot on the side of the RV pad that broke off but it's small and I'm ok with it. I can tell you this, I will never hire this company again.

Dan and his company poured an RV pad at my house in Draper this summer. First, the good aspects of the job. Dan was very timely and responsive. The job was completed in two day as discussed and agreed upon. Dan seemed knowledgeable on concrete and jobs of this nature. Next, the poor aspects of the job. During the planning phase of the job, it was discussed that the area would be dug to a depth of 4 inches minimum. After the first day of prep work, I got home to find an area that was dug to 4 inches in very few spots, and as little as 1.5 inches in many spots. To Dan's credit, when this was brought up the next morning he dug deeper, although nothing was done to actually measure the depth. I had a sprinkler line which was buried as part of the job. After asking if the sprinkler line was completed I tested it to find water shooting out of the ground. The sprinkler line was punctured and was also buried less than 1 inch below the ground. On the day the concrete was pour a bobcat was used to transport the concrete from the truck to the RV pad. On several instances the bucket was lowered too far when going over my curb, chipping chunks of my existing curb off. Using the bobcat on my existing concrete left it with several oil stains that were difficult to remove even with a power washer. While pouring the new concrete lots was spilled on my existing concrete, only a broom sweep was done to clear this off. Now I am left with ugly dark spots of new concrete on top of my existing concrete. As you can imagine, this was a very unpleasant surprise as concrete that has dried is impossible to remove. After requesting that something be done about this three times, I have come to the conclusion that nothing will ever be done to make this right. Regardless of the debatable quality of my new RV pad, the permanent damage caused to my existing concrete left me feeling far less than satisfied. I used this website and others to find a contractor for this job. I leave this review hoping that others will be informed. Should you wish you see the quality of work in person, please contact me, I would be happy to allow you to judge for yourself in person prior to making a decision on which contractor to use.
Response from ABC Contractors
"Against better judgment we did go way way out of our service area to bid this job. The customer called and specifically ask that I come look at his job. We do NOT service the area he lives in and have not for 6 or 7 years. That said Daniel was given many options at time of bid. First and foremost he was advised our Bobcat WOULD be accessing he area across his existing driveway as there was no other acces and as it is heavy equipment there is always possibility of damages. We also advised a pump truck be used to pour the mud at a cost of $500. Homeowners declined stating they did NOT want to spend the money. We talked about the sprinkling system and again was advised we would find the line and almost guaranteed we would damage it as we would be using equipment. I did say we would do the best we could to repair it but advised it be double checked before we poured concrete for the reason stated above and we do NOT mess with homeowners sprinklers. We did form the job and go home for the evening the following morning as is our daily routine we double check our forms for depth. There was a slight hump in the center and it was promptly cut down to proper grade. The driveway was formed with standard 2X4's as is set standard in the industry. This give a minimum nominal 4" pour. As to our measuring we pull string lines again as is standard in industry and we check it with out grade rakes which are designed and built to proper height so a quick running of the rake by the side of string or under the string tells us where we stand. We did in fact have droppings from the bobcat as we transported the concrete into the pour area (one of the reasons we so strongly recommend a pump truck which was declined). We swept and cleaned with shovels the work area. We also went with wire brushes 3 times and scrubbed the spots lessening the appearance. When asked about further cleaning we advised acid would damage the new concrete and advised the darker spot will in fact bleach as the sun hits it. Again had our advice been listened to and a pump used we would NOT have this. I URGE people to go look at our work. Daniels job turned out very nice has a fantastic finish and should give many many many years of superb service."
