Masonry Work
Mr. Vargas said he could do it without hesitation. He didn't get a permit, as we thought he would. He was shut down by the building inspector part way through the project. He was using substandard rebar, and his plans were flawed. We had to pay an engineer to make a drawing of the design. With some quick thinking by my neighbor, we were able to bring the wall back to "code" and Mr. Vargas finished the job. When the inspector shut down the project, Mr. Vargas went silent on us. He didn't show up to work anymore, and he wouldn't answer his phone. If I hadn't taken a copy of his driver's license when I gave him a deposit, he would have been GONE. This project took 6 months to complete. He was not good. I would definitely not hire him again.
