The roofing project contracted to Warburton's is now on day 41 and counting on what was originally supposed to be from 4 1/2 days to 7 days (roof portion). It has been delayed multiple times due to, a lack of sufficient workers, unreliable scheduling and poor workmanship, that has had to be corrected from day one. I am not sure how Warburton's performs with typical asphalt shingles but I would definitely not recommend them for stone coated metal. A group of neighbors and co-workers including myself decided to use Gerard roofing at a premium price. I even visited the factory in Brea Ca. to examine the product and training facility before making my decision. I mentioned this to the sales person showed pictures of the visit and went over many of the required installation details given me by Gerard. The sales person assured me that his crew was very familiar with the product and processes used. Later I found out this was not exactly true depending on who is assigned the job/bid. Two of us signed a contract on the same day while the other two had a wait and see approach depending on my results (mine being the first roof to be completed). Both of these people have now gone with different companies that install Gerard Roofing. These were slam-dunk Gerard roofing jobs for Warburton's had they performed. I am currently relying on the Sales person who sold me the roof to personally complete the job. Still need flashings installed and caulked two damaged panels replaced and rain gutters installed. This roofing job was bid at over $20,000.00 and I took Warburton' bid even though it was not the lowest based on the Sales persons knowledge and initial estimate of time.
Big mistake!
For 95% of the job only one person unfamiliar with this type of installation was used to install a counter batten roof system with stone coated metal roofing. This is totally inadequate for a project of this type. Out of 41 days there were only 2 ½ days when additional people were used. Luckily Leonel did a good job on a very visible portion of the roof during this time. I am now depending on the sales person who initially sold the job to finish it. I have documented all missed schedule dates, and workmanship problems since day one with pictures, saved text messages and messages from Rob (the western states rep for Gerard). I have no definite date for completion even though I have asked several times. I have had to personally make temporary down spouts while waiting for the roof to be complete because of the rain we have had in the last 6 weeks during this construction.
One positive comment I need to make concerns the person who patched the stucco on my home. Excellent Job! Showed up on time, completed the job in a timely manner, and matched the color and texture of 20 year old stucco better than I thought possible. He was also very honest and recommended only replacing 16 sq ft as opposed to 56 sq ft that was on the initial bid. (I have not been given a credit for this yet) I would rate this person at 5 stars if possible even though this was only 1% of the job. The sales person has also always returned my calls or texts but the follow through with the installation crew and resulting commitments have been terrible. If the job is ever completed I will submit the final result. As for now my advice would be to definitely avoid Warburton’s of Pleasant Grove Utah for any Gerard stone coated metal roof.
Update after completion of project:
As mentioned above the stucco repair was excellent and the installation of the rain gutters went as planned with both being scheduled in advance and completed on time. I would recommend both of these services. Unfortunately the roofing project continued for almost 7 weeks on what was originally a 41/2 to 7 day estimated schedule. Multiple times the partially completed roof was left untouched for days because the crew was sent to other jobs, sent to repair leaks on other jobs or sent out of town for a week or more at a time. For this reason and the fact that several critical areas needed to be either re-worked or replaced, including several calls to the Western States Representative to satisfy the Gerard warranty, I would not recommend Warburton's Inc of Pleasant Grove / Lindon for a stone coated metal roof.
Once installation began, there were individual crews in their area of expertise. Each crew seamlessly completed their part of the job.The electrical was run, and we had a delay on the delivery of our light fixtures and the electrician was gracious and patient when he came back to install the light fixtures.
I cannot speak highly enough of the experience we had working with Warburtons. If you are considering using this company, hire them!!!
