Ron Ash, owner, has a really good combination of expertise, professionalism, and care for the customer.
Our project was a concrete patio replacement at the back of the home. It looked easy -- quick demo and quick replace. But along the way, there were many obstacles to overcome -- extra deep inches of concrete to excavate, rock walls and glass doors to protect, limited slope for drainage, and another concrete slab to tie into.
Ron's expertise and professionalism allowed him to stay cool at every point. We were able to work together smoothly throughout the process -- even when the team had to change tactics in demolition and again when they had to pour the concrete deeper than expected to ensure a good final product. His entire team is kind, respectful, and a joy to have at the house. I am a hands-on, motivated homeowner who likes to understand and be involved in the process and Ron allowed for that motivation, ensuring a good feeling all-around.
I have considerable experience with house projects and remodeling and have never written a review for someone who worked on our house. After working with Ron Ash, I was inspired to do so. He is able to work constructively, determine a successful course of action, and ensure that the final product is great -- a combination of talent that is not easy to find in Utah.
DO NOT HIRE THIS CONTRACTOR! In May of 2013 Rose Concrete replaced my driveway; it started falling apart less than six-months later. I made numerous calls and emails in a vain attempt to have the work replaced. However, after initially returning my calls and emails, the owner of Rose Concrete will no longer respond. Despite the owner?s claims that he would do whatever it took to make things right, I am now forced to address this issue through legal channels.
When the owner of Rose Concrete initially came to our house to put together his estimate he seemed resistant answering questions posed by my wife. With me his tone was abrupt but civil. Having come from the construction industry, I rationalized he just wasn?t comfortable answering questions posed by women, but he?d be fine working with me.
The morning he started work on our driveway my daughter called to ask if she could let them into the garage. Apparently they asked for access to make screeding and finishing the driveway easier. Unbeknownst at the time, Rose had already started the pour and had splashed concrete all over my garage door, which, I suspect, is why they asked to have the door raised in the first place - they didn?t want to make it worse. I didn?t discover the garage door had concrete all over it until several hours later when Rose Concrete was done. By that time the concrete was cured and couldn?t be removed without damage to the door.
When my daughter called to ask if she could provide access to our garage I decided to go home to ensure the valuables in my garage weren?t left unsecure. While I was home I monitored the progress of the pour. After several hours working the concrete I began to worry Rose Concrete was taking too long to finish. My background in the industry taught me that overworking concrete frequently leads to a failed application. On at least two occasions I asked the owner if he didn?t think he was overworking the concrete. He flatly said ?no?. I explained my concerns about overworking the concrete and he stated something to the effect that his reputation was everything to him and he would do ?whatever it took to make it right.? My experience has taught me that isn?t the case.
I DO NOT RECOMMEND Rose Concrete. If you choose to hire them, I strongly recommend you include a specific warranty in your bid that covers chipping, cracking and spalling. Otherwise, you are on your own.
"Rose Concrete Additive Company did not do this job. Not sure who [member name removed] is."
"Thank you [member name removed]! You will probly want a fresh coat of sealer on the decorative patio in a few years! Let me know when you are ready to move forward with the side driveway."
I highly recommend Ron Ash and Rose concrete.
"[Member name removed], Thanks for your review.. I hope all is well we should probably get your driveway resealed soon as it is on the North side of the house. I could get you hooked up wit hour premium sealer at a wholesale cost and you could do it yourself or we can come apply it if need be. Thanks Ron"
Price is important, but professionalism, timeliness and follow up for me are more important. I feel that if you need work done that requires a professional, that you call Ron Ash and ask for a quotation. I feel that the results you receive will be what you expect and you will be pleased with the results. I also have a grass strip running the length of my driveway in the center that is 3'x62' and I want it to be replaced with decorative colored and stamped concrete. I will be contact Ron to complete this task. If you are looking for a stamped patio or decorative concrete work to be done, call Ron and he can forward you pictures of the work he has already done. I feel confident in recommend him and feeling that you will be as satisfied as we are with the finished work.
"[Member name removed], Thank you for your kind review. You had a small issue with some slab movement between the newly poured slab and your exisitng carport slab a couple of years after we poured your new slab and we were able to finally get out and do a small repair and we were also able to reseal your decorative concrete driveway section as well. Ron"
