First, they advertisied falsely what would be included in an unbuilt home. The home they advertised they said they could not build. What they advertised would not be included. I went ahead any way because the location and type of home was suited for my elderly parent's needs and because THEY PROMISED THEY COULD HAVE THE HOUSE DONE IN 90-100 DAYS. NOW--They refuse to discuss starting my house. I wonder if I have lost my $21,000 cash. I only requested two variances from their standard cookie cutter house. One is to eliminate any step so that the house is wheelchair assessible. The other is to install a walk in tub. I have priced tubs for between $2000-4000, depending on if we purchase a soaker tub or one with jets. They say they will charge me $7,000-9000! I have asked several plumbers, who say it does not cost much more at all to install. Therefore, Nilson Homes is just trying to rip off my elderly mother because they think I am rich. I am not. When I suggested several suppliers for tubs, I included Overstock.com in the list. I have used their products many times with no problems. One of the office women scoffed at me about Overstock and was RUDE. My mother needs to move as soon as possible because she is ill. No that they have my cash, they refuse to talk with me about starting the house. They actually told me not to call them. They will call me when they decide to start. 10/1/12 Resolved tub issue. Second meeting scheduled. It has been 6 weeks since they said it could be done in 90 days, but at least they are talking to me and might start the house in the next few weeks. (fingers crossed) 11/1/12 They started on Oct 17. Keeping fingers crossed. Super, named Mike, keeping in touch. Am raising ratings based on performance.
Description of Work: They have taken my money, but refuse to perform. First they said 90 days to build the house, then they said 240 days. Now they will not set a time line or even discuss with me a start date. 10/1/12 Things are starting to move slowly along. We shall see if they perform as promised. 11/1/12 The home finally started Oct 17. The Super actually called to stay in touch. I hope the quality is good; I have no reason to be concerned about that. I hope we get all contracted for; I do have concerns about that. Mostly, I hope they can get it done quickly as promised. Mid January would be 90 days from dig. July will be 240 days, and very disappointing.
