Roofing
Had a hole blown into our roof from a severe wind storm. Called L C Quality Construction for an estimate which they came by to get. Smoked cigarettes around our home and followed up w/ an estimate a week later and apologized for the delay. Said his desk was full of papers and our estimate got lost in the shuffle. Never had them roof our home so not sure how that would of went. When I have to follow up with a company for a bid I just figure that is part of the selection process.

He has been good and has been flexible in working with me.
Response from L C Quality Construction
"We have given the member all the paperwork involved for the repairs so he could close out the loan. We have never received a call or instructions that we should proceed on the work bid out. We have never spoken to member, only his realtor. We have been very prompt on getting the proper paperwork to him. An overall b grade is ridiculous when we have never spoken to member and have not been given the green light to proceed with the work. Member, please communicate better!!!!"

Roofing
Smooth, quick, and responsive to my needs! I had some wind damage and a leak, not to mention that the shingles were reaching the end of their life cycle, so I needed the roof replaced. This company provided the most thorough and professional bid of all the contractors I had do an estimate. Their representative -- the actual roofing foreman, I found out later -- was the only one who actually got up on the roof to look at the job he'd be doing. (All the other bidders kind of eyeballed the roof from the ground, took some measurements - again from the ground - and then threw the figures into an estimating program on a computer). He then took the information from his inspection to a roofing supply company and came back with an itemized list of materials and their cost plus labor etc. So the estimate was more like an invoice as I knew exactly what I'd be paying rather than a ballpark figure. And even then, he was willing to work with me on the price, taking it out of his profit margin, when the estimate came in a little higher than I could manage. And just as importantly to me, he didn't try to sell me any extras I didn't need in the bidding process nor tack on "something they found once they started" once the work began. (There was no additional charge for repairing the extra leak). He also went out of his way to bring me full sized shingle samples once I'd narrowed down my color choices to 2 or 3 based on the "swatches" in the sample book he gave me. He even brought a couple of extra colors that weren't in the book but that blended with the general shades I was looking at. I was very happy he did, too, as I ended up choosing one of the extras! The job was scheduled much more quickly than I had anticipated, was completed in only a couple of days and they kept the debris to a minimum so I didn't have to deal with "construction mess" during the work. When they were done, they cleaned up very thoroughly. I found a few of roofing nails and small bits of old shingle (1-2" at most) buried in my day lilies when I weeded them later and some more on the patio roof, but that was it. And what was left was in heavily planted areas and not visible to anyone unless they were right there in them at close quarters (the plant beds) or in an area inaccessible to them (the patio roof) so I can't blame them for missing that little bit. Now my roof looks great and I'm good to go for another 30 years. I'm even anticipating the next storm so can sit there and grin about my DRY kitchen! Too bad the unusually rainy weather we'd been having in the area stopped and returned to normal about the time they finished the work. Now I may have to wait for months to experience it.
