Burrows Heating & Air
About us
Professional Service & Installation You Can Afford / Family Owned Since 1949 Burrows Heating and Air-Conditioning got started back in 1947 by James (Jim) Burrows. He had worked at Hill Field during the war and had decided that he wanted to start his own business. He bought tools from a fellow who was retiring and "set up shop" under a tree on his small farm in Taylor. He worked for two years under these conditions before buying an old home located at 2133 Grant Ave in Ogden. He removed walls to allow the shop to fit into the house and in Jan. of 1949 he began to work from his new location. He called the company Burrows Metal Works. Originally, the company did general sheet metal work; later he began to sell and install furnaces. Early on, his son Ed joined him and together they built a successful business. In 1951 an office building was added to the property (see photos). Jim continued to run the company until Oct 1963 when Ed took over. About this time the old house was torn down and a new shop was built on the rear on the property. Each of Ed's sons worked with him over the years, some longer than others. In 1975 Mike joined the company full time, followed by Rich in 1982. In 1979, the company incorporated under the name of Burrows Supply Inc. There were changes that came along over the years. Some, like wood burning stoves, fireplaces, and solar heating, didn't really last. Other, more lasting, additions to our business have been: air conditioning, electronic controls, and high-efficiency furnaces. Ed continued to run the company until his passing in Sept of 1988, at which time Rich and Mike took over. The first of several moves started in the 1980's, first to 33rd street, and then to 3050 south for a year, before moving to a new building in the Ogden City Industrial Park, where we are today. The company now known as Burrows Heating has seen a lot of changes over the years, but our ideas of good workmanship and fair treatment haven't been forgotten. We look to build on the heritage of the past as we look ahead to the future.

Mike checked the central air compressor and noticed that the level of refrigerant was quite low. So he added the proper amount and checked the system for leaks. He also took the time to check the entire (furnace) system to make sure there was no problem with it.
One unique thing that happened on this occasion was that Mike had his "tween" grandson with him and had him help with some aspects of the job. The effort did not take away from the task at hand, and I was pleased to see the boy learning some useful skills. The emphasis was on doing a GOOD job, and that was worth any miniscule extra time that the job might have taken.
