Nomad Design

After reading the stellar reviews of Domad Design, I decided to give Damon (Nomad reversed) a call. From the first encounter on the phone with Damon, I could tell I too wanted to work with him.,He was very up front and informed me it would be 6-8 weeks before he could start on my project. I had waited for a year to update my kitchen so this was not a big deal. He kept me up to date during the whole process and worked very hard each day was in our home. And let me tell you, the final product was above and beyond my expectations. To say Damon is a consummate professional is an understatement. He is a one of a kind designer and settles for nothing less than perfection. I would highly recommend Domad and his work.

Damon is exceptional. I've had to do a lot of work around our house with very mixed results from contractors, however Damon stands out as one of the best experiences we've had. He worked with us to design a custom cabinet for my office, and perfectly painted it to match the office. He also installed crown molding. He was extremely helpful at all stages of the project, from design to installation. I highly recommend Damon and plan to utilize his skills again.

This is the second project I’ve done with Damon, and hopefully, not the last. I echo comments from the other reviewers that he is an artist and a perfectionist. My recent project was a complete set of kitchen cabinets and a large master bathroom vanity using rift-sawn white oak and painted uppers. The biggest change in my kitchen was replacing a large peninsula with an island. Designing the new island was challenging, but Damon took the time to visually lay out various sizes and configurations, until we finally reached a decision on the best size and location. Another challenge was figuring out how we could fit a dishwasher that was previously in the peninsula back into the cabinet next to the sink. Once we got to a final layout/design (both kitchen and master bath), Damon built custom sized cabinets and everything fit perfectly. He made many great suggestions for things that I never would have thought of. For example, odd sized spaces in the upper kitchen cabinets were made into a couple of pull out spice drawers and they are great! My kitchen had crooked walls and a sloping floor, but all the finished cabinets were plumb, level, and square. Despite being a one-man shop, Damon was able to stay out in front of the other subcontractors working on my project. He built the cabinet faces so that they look like one continuous piece of wood and they are beautiful! Damon finished off my kitchen by making matching pantry doors and windowsill. My kitchen and master bath are truly one-of-a-kind and I’m sure I will love them for years to come. Damon is a great guy to work with, reasonably priced, and consistently delivers the highest quality workmanship. I’m hoping to get on his schedule again soon for some custom shelving.

Damon is so talented. He is a perfectionist and an artist. I couldn’t be happier with the work he did. He was so patient with my little 3 year old who wanted to watch (and “help”) with the whole process. We will definitely be using Damon again for more custom projects. The quality is outstanding. We are so glad we found him.

I own a 1950s bungalow with a large set of built-in cupboards and drawers in the front hallway. The drawers were the old style with wooden guides on the bottom, and I wanted them replaced with rolling guides on the sides. Damon did a total rebuild, resulting in drawers that are lighter, roomier, glide beautifully, and have a more modern look while still matching the overall style of the house. He was fabulous---conscientious, very detail-oriented, highly skilled, and a great communicator. He took all necessary measurements on the first visit, provided a bid the following day, and was able to fit my job in between larger projects for other customers. I was thrilled with the results!

Damon was great. He responded to our request to get a quote within 12 hours and showed up within 2 days to estimate the job and develop a plan for us. He quickly responded with a price within a few more days. We accepted his plan and price and he was able to fit our job into his busy schedule more quickly than we expected. Installation went very well and we are very happy with his response and the quality of his work. He even provided additional work that was not in the estimate, with no charge. He is very easy to work with and is a true craftsman who is conscientious about staying in communication and providing total client satisfaction.

Excellant. Damon exceeded our expectations. When we contacted Damon he was backed up about 4 weeks. It was definitely worth the wait. He matched our currently installed cabinetry perfectly. Damon kept us well informed of the progress he was making along the way. Damon is very personable and easy to communicate with.We consider his work to be that of an artisan.

The quality of his work is absolutely incredible and he's able to solve problems creatively. For example, my bathroom mirror needs to face the diagonal in order to uncover a window in the room. He built a cabinet on the diagonal which is more functional than anything I could've purchased ready-made. Similarly, he's built shelving into areas of my home (1890s, Capitol Hill neighborhood) that were previously unusable and are now completely functional containing all of my children's toys, books, and more. Damon's pricing is completely fair for the craftsmanship and consideration of clients that goes into his work. I would recommend him to anyone!

Damon was fantastic! We needed a kitchen island installed in our kitchen and from the first phone call to Damon he was very responsive and punctual, when others I have solicited have not been. He did a great job, the quality and work was flawless and he even finished ahead of schedule!! Very respectful of our space and was super friendly to our dog, showing how good hearted of a person he really was. We felt he took great pride in his work and would not cut corners, is true goal was to make the customers happy, which is rare to find. Thanks Damon!!

Damon designed and built a custom wall unit, AV cabinet and coffee table for us. We started out looking for a wall unit to fit an odd sized wall and to hold some unique stereo equipment pieces, but we didn't have a clear idea of what we wanted. Damon listened to our needs and designed a beautiful maple wall unit that fit our space perfectly and looks fantastic.  Damon arrived promptly for our initial meeting and brought a lot of examples of his prior projects and some wood samples which really helped us to visualize the end result. We communicated as needed throughout the design and build phases to discuss any questions and to ensure a clear understanding. The end result looked even better than we expected. Our pieces have Damon's signature inlaid trim that really adds a custom look and we've had numerous compliments on both the beauty and quality.

During the design phase, we added a matching AV cabinet to our order and Damon added the additional piece into his schedule. The cabinets look great together and really complete the look of the room. We also ended up getting a matching coffee table by utilizing an extra piece of wood.

Throughout the project, Damon was very prompt, reliable, and personable. He gave us a reasonable schedule up front and completed the project within the expected time schedule. His pricing is very reasonable considering the quality of his workmanship and as compared to price quotes we received from other companies. He is great to work with and we'd definitely call him again. Damon makes beautiful furniture.

Damon was faster than expected I completing the work. The craftsmanship quality was exceptional. I would never been able to find the same quality at his price if shopping in a furniture store, plus it is perfect for our home. I will use him again without hesitation,

This is my third review regarding job performed. I will say what I did in the two previous reviews. The work exceeded my expectations; best work I have ever seen. I had my old cabinet doors replaced and Nomad Design delivered in every possible way: excellent work, on time delivery, one of the most talented and gracious people doing the work. And everything was on time, price very reasonable, and the work was beautiful.

Damon built and installed two bookshelves for me in my living room. They look great and I have received numerous compliments on them. Damon was professional, nice, punctual and very talented. It was a great experience and I will hire him again.

Damon was great to work with - he listened to what we wanted and was able to design and build the bookcases to fit perfectly in our space. The quality of craftsmanship is excellent.  We are on his waiting list for another bookcase to be built in another room...

Damon is very nice, personable, and took time to answer all my questions. He brought samples two different times and left them with me when I had a hard time making a decision. He used high quality materials. I love the hinges because they close slowly, independently, without a bang. The wood is high quality and beautiful, and the finish is the perfect satin sheen but hard as nails. The workmanship is excellent, I was very pleased. His price was the best of 3 or 4 bids. When I wasn't happy with the color of one cabinet, he took extra time to make it the way I wanted. He answered my texts and calls in a timely manner. I would definitely use him again.

Damon did a wonderful job on my cabinets and I'm very happy with them.  I had my existing kitchen cabinets, which were oak, refaced with maple.  He provided new cabinet doors, drawer fronts and molding.  He also refaced all the other old pieces(kick plates and cabinet box sides) with new wood.  He was able to give me the exact cabinet door/drawer front design and stain color I had in mind and even contacted me several times during the process to make sure he was providing me with what I wanted.  He's very friendly, professional and easy to work with.  You can tell he takes pride in what he does.  I would highly recommend him!

Damon refaced all of our existing kitchen cabinets and did a wonderful job!!  I love my new cabinets - they are beautiful!  I had two other bids from other people and neither was able to do what I wanted.  Their color selection was limited and one refacing company didn't even use real wood.  Damon was able to give me exactly what I wanted and even took extra time to find my stain color.  He would call me before he purchased items to be sure it was what I wanted and even texted me with pictures of choices.  Damon came when he said he would and got the job done in a little less than a week.  He is a very friendly, professional and trustworthy person.  I highly recommend him!

Damon came and gave me a detailed bid for the work and helped me finalize my plan to maximize functionality and beauty.  I was very grateful for his advise and impressed with his price so I hired him.  He made up detailed drawings as we finalized the plan so I knew exactly what it would look like when it was finished.  He built most of it offsite and then brought it and installed it all in the last few days.  Due to some unforeseen circumstances it took a little longer than he thought it would but he checked with me throughout the process to make sure I was ok with how quickly it was getting done.  I am so pleased with the end product!  It is beautiful and very sturdy.  He added extra reinforcements to the shelves and used a very durable paint so I anticipate that it will last a lifetime and beyond.  It is the realization of my dream room! I am thrilled and will definitely recommend Damon and use him again.

Damon Cross is a delight.  He came to the house to view the setting for the proposed peace, to offer suggestions, and to provide samples and examples.  He is not the speediest guy on the planet (I think because he is busy) , but I was no specific hurry, and I  wanted only great quality.  He suggested woods and techniques techniques I had never seen.  The furniture piece turned out to be better than expected.  He had me pay up front for the materials and than I paid the remainder on delivery.  The overall price was very fair.  I would definitely recommend him to others and will certainly use him again.  In fact I can't wait to have him build something else for me.

Damon called - came out and took measurements.   He dropped samples of wood off at our home within a week.  He gave me hardware books to help in my selection of pulls, recommended soft close hinges - ($90 additional) and installed some racks in one cabinet so my cookie sheets and cutting boards are finally organized. It was a bit difficult to match the 180 degree curve of our existing island with a hickory overlay but Damon figure it out and it looks beautiful.  Afterwards I asked him to build me a locker after he finished some other projects.  This will go in my small mud room and be installed this Saturday.  When we reface our bathroom cabinets we will use Damon again.

It wen very well. He came out on time and performed excellent work on budget. He is buy, but is worth the wait.

Working with Damon was an absolute delight. His work is exceptional. When he made the doors for my cabinets in a beautiful light maple and since I wanted a smooth, flat surface, he added a gorgeous mitered look, so at any angle it gives the cabinet doors a dimensional interest.I am completely happy and satisfied with the results. Damon's work is clean and solid, very professional. This small 27-yr old galley kitchen looks brand new.Damon showed up on time, worked very long hours, and if you're lucky enough to meet his son who helps him occasionally, then I know you will be pleased with the results.Since I will eventually replace the counter tops he also gave some very helpful suggestions on improving the granite tops.He's very pleasant, easy to work with, and I am very satisfied with my new kitchen because of his craftsmanship.
