Maid Service

I hired Molly Maid of South Salt Lake/Provo-Orem for a one-time clean as a gift for my friend in Herriman. We agreed on 2 cleaners for 3 hours. Instead, the crew arrived late with an unauthorized third person, spent nearly all their time upstairs, and with only 20 minutes left told me that if I wanted the downstairs (kitchen, living, dining, floors) cleaned, it would require another 3 hours ? effectively doubling the cost. Because they knew I was booking from out of state and wouldn?t be on-site, this felt like intentional pressure and borderline extortion. If they realized mid-job they were off schedule, they should have called so I could reprioritize, not waited until the end to corner me into paying more. In the end, I was charged more than agreed and the home was left half-cleaned. This was supposed to be a thoughtful gift, but it turned into an expensive disappointment. I?ve since escalated this to local ownership and corporate leadership and am still waiting for resolution.

After an hour and a half, they left the bathroom sitting there. They didn't do a good job with the bathroom. They didn't do a good job with the house. When their supervisor showed up and asked me if I wanted to buy more time to get the stuff done that they didn't get done, I said "No way."

We have a long history of disappointment with Molly Maid. Over the course of the last three years. I have brought concerns to the office manager ranging from baseboards beaten with a vacuum cleaner (apparently a result of over-zealous vacuuming) to poor cleaning of the kitchen floor, and even some broken items that went unreported and were left for me to "discover."
Over the last year, I average a phone call with them at least once every other month. We had them come every other week so that averages one contact about every four sessions of them cleaning our house. Since June of this year, my conversations with her have included the following concerns:

Broken, unreported property
Kitchen floor being "mopped" with a squeegee
None of the kitchen furniture (e.g., table and chairs) being removed prior to "mopping" the floor
Cleaning people stepping on our bed, with shoes, to reach the ceiling fan
Toilet that was not cleaned at all
Complete disregard for cleaning the basement (approximately 50% of our house)
Household items haphazardly put back in their locations after being moved to dust or vacuum
Neglected cold air returns (build-up of significant dust over several "cleaning" sessions)
Laundry room doesn't get swept or "mopped"
An important note to consider is that prior to the cleaning people arriving we spend time ensuring that our house is tidy. We do this to allow the team to focus on cleaning our house rather than tidying up clutter or things out of place.
My conversations with the office manager started out okay with her indicating she would ensure proper notes were put on our account. That said, the same issues come up over and over. During a recent call she indicated she would put a note on our account to have the cleaning people make sure to pay attention to the toilet bowl when cleaning the bathroom. She indicated her ladies "need to put their hand in the toilet bowl to clean it." Two things, that shouldn't be a revelation to anyone in the household cleaning industry and that is what she said the SECOND time I talked with her about this same issue. It should be note that we have normal fixtures in our bathroom.
My husband and I are busy professionals and we have four kids. Even with all the commitments we have, at this point, I truly feel that I would save time and energy cleaning the house myself.
An additional consideration to note is that the quality of cleaning varies significantly depending upon which team arrives at your home on your scheduled day. In the beginning the variation was so bad that I requested the same team come to our house each time. Even with that request, the quality still varies but not as significantly. Today, we had a completely new crew (stay away from Team 8) come to our house and it has resulted in us moving forward with firing Molly Maid at our first opportunity (Monday morning).
I guess I should take this as a review of myself as well. I should have never let it get this bad. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere for your  home cleaning needs.

They did a good job, but was a little pricey. They were very professional when they were in the home. Only downfall was the lack of availability in certain areas.

They are really excellent. They do the vacuuming, wipe down all of the appliances, do the dusting, dust the fan blades, clean the cabinets and bathrooms. They are very thorough, the house is 3400 square feet and when I only the upstairs done 2 of them come, and when I include the basement, 3 of them come. I have the downstairs done once a month and the upstairs done weekly.

The first time they were late and the house was not clean. The second time they were on time and they did a good job. But this was after I had called and complained. They come when they say they will, when they call but that is not the time I was promised, so to me that makes them late. I think they are very honest and very friendly. I like the two girls I have now. I still use them so I am very pleased with the service I am getting now.
