I contacted McKay & Associates in the spring of 2016 to install an entire lawn sprinkling system in my yard. In June of that year, they installed it and connected it up to the city's unmetered irrigation water system. Part of the job involved running a separate water line from the city line to my yard. Previously we had been using the irrigation outlet on the neighbor's yard (my brother) and watering the entire yard with a hose. When the owner of McKay & Associates arrived to check out the property, we discussed the project and how I needed to abandon using the neighbor's water outlets and run a new line to outlets on my own yard. I paid him immediately upon completion of the job. After a few days, my brother noticed that McKay & Associates had completely disconnected his property from the city irrigation system and used that connection to reroute the water to my yard. When I called him about the problem requesting that it be fixed. He said that I had asked him to do exactly what he had done. Even in the event of a misunderstanding, common sense would seem to dictate that I had no right or reason to ask him to disconnect the neighbor's yard from the city water system. He was rude, dismissive and condescending during the call. Admitting that he might have simply misunderstood my instructions, I offered to pay him two or three hundred dollars to fix the problem. He agreed to do so when he got time. Eleven months later he still has not shown up, and now my brother is having to run a hose from my yard to water his.. McKay & Associates also promised a one-year guarantee on their work. This spring, 11 months later, one of the sprinkler valves failed. I sent him an email asking him to repair the failed valve. He never replied. Given my experience previously, though, I didn't expect him to honor his warranty. In retrospect, I wish that I hadn't paid him as soon as I did without, first, throughly checking out the quality of his work. As soon as he got the check, he was no longer interested in even talking to me.
