My husband uses them, and he told me that the owners are illiterate. I do not know if it is legal. My husband has been using him for last couple of months, and his work seems to be okay. Also, his prices are excellent, but of course, it is not good because everything is kind of under the table I guess. The biggest complaints we have about him is he is not consistent about showing up, and you have to kind of monitor him. We told people what we paid for the deck and their job, because it is so cheap. I do not know if that is a valid business to add in Angie's List, because I might get them in trouble but he does do lawns and stuffs too. He does not just do decks. It is a family-owned business. It is like the whole Rodriguez family. He brings out his brother-in-law, his uncle, his dad and even his wife. They come out and work on stuff. I do not know how much they charge us, because my husband is the one who makes the payment. He just pays whenever he needs to pay. It was kind of like an installment pay depending on how much work was done. You just do have to monitor him. I think, he does his work but he just comes and goes when he wants. He sometimes says he is going to be there, but he does not show up and he is half an hour late. It is some kind of the biggest issues. If you are willing to be around and monitor him, I think you will be okay. His pricing is excellent. My husband would not be able to do good works if we actually hired somebody who was insured and all of that. Honestly, it was like a $20,000 project, and this guy did it for $4,000. If you think about it, he is illegal and he is illiterate but he is looking for work. However, there were couple of times, my husband had to call him to come back and fix things. He actually did some stairs for us that he has to fix that are not right, but his brother-in-law came and just did it. In addition, he take other jobs at the same time so he works in between. That is why he sometimes does not show up. That is the issue, but he does eventually show up and fix it. You just have to monitor him like a teenager. He is pretty responsive. We would continue to use them because of their price. We are willing to spend the time to monitor him, and get the work done. Otherwise, there is no way we could afford to do that deck and all the stuff we have done in the backyard.
