"Thank you for the kind words [Member Name Removed] and thank you for the work!"
The rest of the driveway is about 15 to 20 feet wide and about 100 feet long (these are just estimates). There were trees planted along the length of the driveway that had just been removed and they had lifted up and caused several large cracks across the width of the drive. We had discussed these and areas where it was badly cracked and looked like spider webbing. He said the spider webbed area could not be fixed.
"T" sent me an contract on 6/18/15 for removal, fill and tunfcoat. I have never been involved with asphalt and relied on Tevita to provide professional service. I never argued on the price and tried to ask probing questions to gain knowledge on the procedure and what the job entailed.
"T"'s, Description of Work states:
Clean off debris / Apply two coats of tuffcoat seal coat to entire indicated asphalt area(First coat n Second coat sprayed.)
Nothing is mentioned about using crack filler. As a neophyte, I assumed this was included in the work to be done.
I called and asked "T" about this and he said he didn't include it in the contract. No real answer to why, just forget maybe. I sent an email to Ryan Sumsion, the CEO, who replied some vice president would contact me. He did and met with an associate at the property. They said it was not in the contract so I could have them fix for a price.
Why was this missed by the salesman and then by the supervisor on the job? Nobody argues that a proper job would have included the crack fill, it was just an over sight. They said they would send an estimate to do the repair. Nothing yet.
The drive will need to be replaced in the next few years and I would be nervous asking Eckles to do the job.
"Eckles Paving performs more asphalt maintenance work for more people in Park City than any other asphalt contractor in the state. We appreciate our Park City customers and nothing is more important than your satisfaction with the services we provide. Just to clarify, there was no work performed in 2014. It sounds like you are upset because you didn't like the price we quoted or the scope of work we provided. 1-The last time we worked with you was in 2008. Our price for crackseal and sealcoat this year was $790 less than it was in 2008! Not sure what your expectations were considering the rise in the price of oil over the last 6 years. 2-For Eckles Paving, no two jobs are the same. Project scopes are dependent on a lot of variables including budgets, condition of the asphalt, time of year etc. We give an honest recommendation based on what we see when we visit the job site. If the scope of work we provided was unacceptable, we could have simply re-quoted the job based on the changes you wanted. A simple phone call would have resolved your concerns. We would appreciate the opportunity to win you back as a customer if the opportunity ever presents itself."
