Way over priced. At least double others. I trusted that they were competitive and now I regret it. After two weeks the system doesn't produce water that is any softer than unsoftened water. I called to have it checked and no reply

Service date is approximate - have had many interactions with them in the last 10 years. 1st interaction - Overcharged for a water softener install. I didn't know better at the time, but their prices were double what you can get elsewhere. 2nd interaction - Manufacturing defect created a leak and I had to pay for the part replacement (metal roller swirls inside pipe to measure gallons used, but the metal piece wore through the pipe quickly). I don't remember what I paid for that small plastic elbow but the price was definitely gouging. 3rd interaction - Moving water softener to new house. They moved the unit but without asking me, they poured an expensive additive cleaning solution in the brine tank and added $60 to the invoice and expected me to pay for something I never asked for. ***Instead of paying them $60 for a quart of their water softener cleaner, just go on Amazon and get a Gallon (4 quarts!) of ResCare RK41N All-Purpose Water Softener Cleaner Liquid for $14 and it works perfectly with the same active ingredients according to the MSDS on the product. 3rd interaction: Another leak and they said I needed new resin due to age of system and a new timer. They they quoted me just as much to replace the resin as I could buy an entirely new unit with higher capacity for. They gave some story about how it's special resin and not the kind you'd find elsewhere. I had enough of their deceptive practices, manipulative pricing and several bold faced lies I was told so I paid the minimum fee and didn't have any work done. Instead of using them and being taken advantage of, I bought my own unit on Amazon (Fleck 5600SXT 64,000 Grain Water Softener Digital SXT Metered Whole House System for $600) and it was easy to install myself. You can easily have any plumber connect it for about $150-200. The best part: My salt consumption is about 10% of what it was before! I went from constantly refilling my salt to using less than a bag per month. My new system is metered so it only backwashes when it needs to, rather than on a schedule that they setup before which ran far too often and was very wasteful, shortening the life of the unit. Our water is better than it's ever been. Avoid this place at all costs.

The sales person called my and said the installer had just stopped by my house and no one was home. We had to reschedule for the following week. The installer used the brine tank as his person trash can when cutting into the ceiling and fitting the pipes. It was full of bits of copper, plex, and sheet rock. One day I asked on the phone for some help removing my RO line so I could work on my water heater. They said it would be a minimum of $75.

We bought a home that had an existing Intermountain soft water system that wasn't working properly. I called three companies to get info and bids on fixing or replacing our unit. These guys charged me an outrageous $190 to change a nut. They also quoted $900 for a reverse osmosis unit for my kitchen. The other two companies quoted $150-$200 for the exact same system. I will stay far, far away from Intermountain.

I was unfamiliar with the Hague system that was in the home I had just purchased. When I called to make the service appointment they said they could service it and bring the correct replacement parts. The did not have the Hague filters, etc when they arrived and told me they would replace my R.O. unit with a superior system at the same cost for servicing the Hague unit. I agreed but discovered later I had been deceived. They actually tore out a more expensive, superior R.O. unit and replaced it with one that usually requires them to service it. They then sold me a "add on" for my brine tank which is ok for typical water softeners but not necessary for the Hague system in my home. When I later learned about the Hague system I had I realized I had been deceived and ripped off. Months later a person from the company called me to set up follow up service and I explained how I had been mislead and treated unfairly. This company representative denied what had been done, was rude, and then hung up on me. DO NOT do business with these dishonest people.

We had Intermountain come out for a service call after we recently purchased our house. They adjusted the settings on the current softener and let us know that the resin bead tank wasn't meant for the number of people in our family and the hardness of our water. They told us nothing further needed to be done, just that we would go through a lot of salt due to the frequency of the regeneration that would need to take place. At our request, they called us back and gave us a quote to replace just the resin bead tank with a higher quality and higher capacity bead tank. They installed the tank in a very quick and professional manner. Our installer was very professional and knowledgeable.

We recently moved into a home with incredibly hard water. After researching both the companies and products available in our area, we decided to give Intermountain Water a call. After contacting them it was only a matter of days before they came down to our house in SLC and analyzed our water. After analyzing our water (for hardness, iron, chlorine and a few other things) they discussed their various products and what they felt might be a good fit for our situation. They were very professional, knowledgeable and there was never any sales pressure. The same day we decided to purchase a softener / filtration they managed to get an installer to our house. Again, a very knowledgeable, professional and punctual person. About a week after installation, IW came back to re-analyze our water and make sure we were happy with their system. We are. Our water is now soft and tastes great from every tap in the house. IW costs a little more, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

They were easy to get a hold of and they came right out a day or two later. They didn't try to sell me a new unit even though mine is old and wearing out. I like that because I don't like to be cornered into buying something on the spot.

I was happy that they came a few minutes early. As far as having service done, it was an overall good experience. The cost was exactly what they told me it would be. I called yesterday and they came out today.
