From day one I was disappointed in the work done by servicemaster. I filed an insurance claim and this was the preferred provider of my company. First off they were supposed to move all my content out of my basement for me. My adjuster assured me that I wouldn't have to move the stuff myself. Wrong! I moved the vast majority of it alone, while the two workers proceeded to rip my basement apart. They did help me with a few of the heaviest items, but most of the work was done by me. After they had done more damage than was done by the flood, e.g. Not only taking the door casings off which wre affected by sewage water, but also the Sheetrock up to two feet even in areas which weren't wet. They also had an asbestos inspector come, who determined that the tile in my basement under the carpet was indeed asbestos and that it would need to be abated. This caused an entire new set of problems which I won't get into here. Suffice it to say that due to these tiles, servicemaster wouldn't use their machine to clean my floor. This is understandable, as I don't want the poor guy doing the work to get mesothelioma any more than he does. However, what is unacceptable is the fact that both he and his boss lied to my face and my insurance adjuster about sanitizing and cleaning the floor. I know they never cleaned the floor because I was there the whole time. I had to take two days off of work to watch these idiots make a mess of my house. My basement is small, about 450 square feet. It should not have taken two days. Besides the crap job they did on "cleaning up" my basement, (which I had to pay a pro to fix and ended up costing me more than the insurance would pay, even after I recouped all the depreciation), they are still screwing up the restoration of my belongings. 1.) they came to inventory the affected items and were supposed to make a list of those that could be sanitized, those that couldn't, and those which were sanitized in situ at my house. This list was supposed to be given to the adjuster so he could pay us for the irreparable items. THEY NEVER DID. I gave my own list to him eh oh he had to come out and verify, which cost me more time off work, not to mention the labor of making the **** list. 2.) When the came to give me my stuff back, they forgot half of it, which just so happened to be the most expensive stuff, (musical instruments and equipment), and expected me to sign off that they had brought it all, which of course I did not. 3.) Tonight they were supposed to finally bring my guitars and amps back to us. MY BASEMENT FLOODED ON OCTOBER 3rd and it is now JANUARY 11! Did they show up? No, of course not. We had to call their emergency number to find out that the guy was "stuck on a flood" and couldn't make it. The woman on the phone then asked if we could meet her during the day sometime! We have taken a combined total of nearly 40 hours of work off to deal with these morons and they have the gall to ask us to take more to meet them to get out stuff back after they stand us up! Unbelievable. 4.) I forgot to mention that every time they came to my house we asked them to call first. We have dogs and a 7 month old baby and like to know when we can expect strangers in our home. I know it's a lot to ask to pick up a cell phone in the car on the way. Apparently it was too much. THEY NEVER CALLED ONCE. Given their cable guy, 12-4, maybe if I feel like it I'll be there, schedule this was extremely annoying. The only saving grace grace is that my insurance company is the one who had to write the check with their name on it, because I honestly don't think I could bring myself to do it and would probably end up in court. Do yourself a favor. If you live in Northern Utah and ever hear the name Service Master in connection with a job at your home, DONT LET THEM DO IT. I know now from experience that after a flood or something wrecks your house, you don't really care about the minutea and just want the job to start so you can get back to normal, but this is one price you shouldn't pay. There are lots of disaster resotoration companies out there and I can assure you that any one of them would do a better job than this one.
