I'll start by saying the good stuff. All in all we got a great rate and are very happy with our home and the loan terms. We made an offer and closed about 60 days later. Once we were cleared to close we closed and funded in a timely matter.
Nelson Barrs was our loan officer. He's one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
We should have been a slam dunk client to start with. We negotiated the sellers paying 3% in closing costs, we had 20% down payment, good credit and employment history. Closing a loan is much more difficult than it used to be and I felt like he should have been more on top of things. The day we were supposed to close we couldn't get ahold of him or his assistant. They finally called at 4:30pm and said we'd be at least 10 days before we could actually close. I had to call the sellers since we were now out of our contract deadlines and beg them to hang on another week and not take our earnest money and run. We closed a week later and were done with it. The only other gripe is that they were having a hard time getting some info from my HR group. His assistant dug through my documents and called the VP of sales of my company (my boss' boss' boss) and asked simple questions. I wished they would have checked with me before they made calls. I wish he could have done a little better planning and pushed out the dates before we jeopardized out earnest money.
