We would hire him again! Good workmanship and very please with the results. Shane went out of his way to help us. Needs improvement: estimating time. We would hear, "We'll get on that tomorrow, or this week" only to find 2 weeks have gone by without any action. Maybe going for the "under promise/over deliver" philosophy would improve this issue. But the work is good, and he treats his subs well. Shane was easy to approach about issues, fixed everything to our satisfaction.

Words can not explain in full what my family has gone through because of his greed and uncaring personality. The approximate cost only reflects what our original budget was. We are now $125,000 in debt due to his negligence. I feel strongly to warn individuals to be careful when choosing a contractor, I wish I had. I have learned much from the experience. No one should ever go through what we did just wanting to improve their home and make it a pleasant place to live.
Response from SAC Remodeling
"We do our best to satisfy all of our customers. In fact, we take great pride in the many satisfied customers that we have. However, we have had quite a difficult time working with the [Removed Member Name] . They demanded multiple, substantial changes, which considerably changed the scope of the project during its construction. These caused us to stop work and redo work already performed, as well as forced us to reschedule trades to accommodate their continued changes. They refused to accept the cost and time delay, resulting from the changes that they demanded. The [Removed Member Name] informed us that they would be completing their project on their own. We offered to refund them for the amount of work not performed and to terminate our contract. They refused to come to any sort of agreement and, as a result, we have initiated litigation for breach of contract and this is currently being handled by our attorney."

I was referred to Shane by another contractor who couldn't do the work so I checked Angies List and saw that his overall rating was a B.  As it turns out , the previous reviews were right on point and we got exactly what we expected.  Normally I like to use only A contractors but his only ding was punctuality.  His price was excellent and we were not in too much of a hurry so we decided to go with him.  I must say, they were a delight to work with.  Change orders were a snap with his co-construct website. The estimate for the job was 6 weeks, we ended up at 11 weeks, but at least two weeks of that was waiting for flooring on back order.  I have to admit there was some frustration when the job sat without progress for days at a time. but if you are not up against a hard deadline, I would definitely recommend them.

Shane is honest and fair and did excellent work, with one except - we ordered decking material he had never installed. It is a powder-coated aluminum decking material that interlocks to give a solid, water tight decking surface. Shane learned how to install it and did it well except that the grading is not perfect and we get small pools of water at the outer edge of the deck instead of it all draining off. I guess this is kind of complicated to install but we love it.

Shane removed a mini kitchen in the basement and recommended improvements to the plumbing design which we appreciated and made the space work much better. The quality of work in the bathroom, new storage room, new family room with mini kitchen is excellent. (We engaged another contractor for all the cabinet work.)

Whenever we suggested that a certain element might not be as we had planned, Shane was very responsive, listened, and made things to our liking.

The only complaint is how long the project took. Admittedly, we had landscaping going on at the same time and these two contractors were sometimes waiting on each other - but we would expect better communication about project timing.

The quality of work was done well. We was happy with the work they done. The project did go over the scheduled time like 2 1/2 months. I believe better communication would have helped us understand why it took longer to complete. For instance they had showed up to install a mirror and good think I was home and then they also showed up at 7am on a Saturday and we was unaware of these type of things.

Since this was our first remodel we really didn't know what to expect, except we wanted it done quickly and with high quality. It didn't go quickly and they didn't show up every day (let's bring reality back in and realize we were not his only customer). The project lasted approximately 9 months and I can say they did an excellent job. Shane backs up his work with a 1 year guarantee and has always been responsive to any issues.
As things have settled, there are a few non-critical issues that need to be resolved. I know Shane will resolve them once I reach out to him.
