OK, so we recently moved from Vegas to Hurricane, Utah, and faced the most daunting task that any newcomer to any town can ever face … who to trust to cut your hair.
My wife had already made the drive all the way back to Vegas to see her trusty cutter, and I had already taken a chance on a “traditional” barber shop over in St. George.  What a fiasco that was.  If you find yourself in a St. George barber shop with a large stack of tires in one corner, “run away, run away.”
 Desperate to find a trustworthy Hurricane-based cutter we started calling local friends for referrals, and we’re OH SO glad we did.  We would have NEVER found this place on our own.  It’s WAY off the main drag, in a residential neighborhood, around back, down a flight of stairs, in the proprietor’s basement.
 here you will find the OH SO affable, and SO VERY capable cutter, Shelley Scholzen.  My last barber cut my hair for about ten years, and Shelley is far superior to him.  She was even able to take that disastrous mop I was left with after the “tire shop” cut and completely repaired it in just two visits.
Shelley’s a wizard!  Have you ever seen a cutter who has a file box with 3x5 index cards on all her customers?  What’s on those cards?  Minute measurements she takes of the ideal length of each customers hair, in several locations all around their heads.  It’s a treasure trove of data that allows her to achieve and document the ideal cut for every customer, and then replicate it every time.  It’s
genius!
 Bet they don’t do that at the “tire shop” place.
 My wife and I have both adopted Shelley as our permanent cutter in Hurricane, and we’re very glad to have been referred to her.
