We were both new to Salt Lake City and picked Reliable Auto Mechanics after reading good reviews on a Google maps App. We took in our 2000 SUV to get the blinker fixed. When they gave us the bill, we were staggered at the price but after a lengthy and confusing explanation, we hoped they weren't gouging us. Because we had already scheduled for them to work on our 93 Sedan to have the windshield wipers fixed, we hesitantly swapped the cars when we picked up the SUV. When the Sedan was done, once again the bill seemed overly high. The explanation for these high prices for what I thought were relatively minor repairs didn't make sense and they had to replace a grocery list of parts on both jobs. Admittedly, I'm not a mechanic but I've worked in the auto industry for years working with mechanics and their pricing of routine repairs. Prior to this, I felt that I could "ball park" most repairs on older model vehicles and I also admit my knowledge on the electrical stuff is a tad bit sparse. But I think almost everyone knows what it feels like to be "had" and I most definitely "had" that feeling. When you know something isn't right but you can't really prove it. The work was not something I could do nor could I prove that any part of it hadn't been done. One thing that I was certain of is that this whole experience had been very taxing and unpleasant to say the least. Just a little side note, both times we were not called after repairs we complete. After a couple of days we had to call them and were told they had left messages both times. We checked to make sure they had our correct numbers, both times, and they did. The weird part is neither of us ever received any messages either time. Anyway, not long after our repairs, both of our previously long term repair-free cars, started having regular problems and now both needed extensive work. Because of our truly suspicious, expensive and dissatisfying experience, we did not, and will not, return to Reliable Auto Mechanics. They are the sole reason we joined Angie’s List. Thankfully, because of Angie's List we've found a mechanic that lives up to the reviews. One that has a trustworthy professional staff, reasonable prices, straight forward explanations, and make us feel like valuable satisfied customers. Not to mention and most importantly, our cars are suddenly repair free again.

Amazing right out of the gates. I had done the 75% of simple things I could do, they listened to me, took notes, where very friendly, AND did the fix right. They build confidence and treat you like a patient rather than a driver if that makes sense. They are very communicative throughout the day and very concerned that I was happy with the work they performed. I have finally found that little special shop to have my big stuff handled like as if it where me doing it in my own garage. VERY VERY fair pricing and offer a free no strings garuntee on thier work. Thanks Reliable from my whole family.

The guys are really good and I have been going there for a long time. They do have a labor fee that I feel like is too much. I understand paying for the parts, but the labor is experience. For their work though I would give them an A.

On December 7, 2013 we were beginning our long trip back to San Antonio, Texas having just left Logan, Utah in a winter storm. By the time we got to Sandy it was obvious that we were going nowhere due to the inability to keep the windshield clean. It was snowing and the wind was blowing. We weren't exactly excited about driving in the winter weather and not having the windshield wipers working stalled us in our trek home. We exited the I-15 to State Street and slowly made our way looking for a car dealership to pull into to have the problem fixed. We spied Reliable Auto Mechanics and pulled in.
Before we were even out of the car a nice young man approached us and asked how he could help. After my (driver) slightly panicked explanation of our cunundrum he smiled and said it would be no problem to fix. After pulling the car into the ba we (me, friend and dog) sat in the waiting room while Ken took care of everything. He drained the fluid, put a portable heater under the car and then checked to make sure there were no leaks and that the pump was working. I have to add that there were others who had appointments who were also waiting for their cars but Ken managed to fit us in and still attend to the others.
In less than an hour we were back on the road and headed South.
The storm followed us all the way to Texas but that is another story. Not much Ken could have done about that! But at least the windshiled wipers worked and believe me, after using two gallons of wiper fluid on the trip, it was an essentail repair he made for us!
Thank you, Ken, for being so very nice to an old lady, her friend and the dog. Chivalry still lives:) And, yes, if I lived in Sandy, Utah, Reliable Auto Mechanics is where I would take my car for service. The people in the waiting room said they wouldn't take their cars anywhere else but there!
