We asked repeatedly about having our appliances re-installed. They moved them to do some tiling. They did this at the last minute, and the washer was not properly hooked up. The (practically brand new) dryer suddenly did not work. An electronic component had to be replaced.
We arrived at home ready to move in on the date the contract was supposed to be finished and found things to be in disarray. Construction materials had not been removed. The upstairs had not been cleaned at all. We spent several hours just cleaning before we were able to begin moving in.
.Our new tile in the dining area was scuffed from moving the appliances. When we asked about it, we were told to clean it with a mild abrasive
The cooling system had been turned off, and we had to call a repairman to get it running again.
Despite our complaints, there was no real apology, only the excuse that they suddenly became busy. Part of the tiling job was not finished. We had to wait for a week for this to be completed. Carpet remnants were left all over the house including an unsightly pile in our front entrance.
We were very disappointed, especially because of the high expectations that we had at the beginning, expectations that they established themselves! They never did pick up the carpet remnants from our front entryway. We had to dispose of them ourselves. You might get lucky and have good work done throughout a project, unless they get busy again!
"We appreciate the feedback member. Our goal is to constantly improve the construction experience for each of our clients. We feel badly when our clients are let down. For the record, we did do additional work upstairs during this project & we could have done a better job tidying up. The construction process can be a messy one & we stress cleanliness to our sub-contracts. Having said that, we are happy to report that we were able to finish on time & member still gave us a B on the quality of our work. We are not perfect, but we do guarantee that we will finish on time. There are periods when our sub-contractors get busy, but we still make sure to finish our work by the contracted deadline. In the end, we hope to continue to be able to make your dream basement a reality. We hope that despite the difficulties, member enjoys his basement for years to come. Thank you."
Since this was a large project, coordinating the project was no easy task, but you wouldn't know it by the way details were handled. There were a couple of times they felt the job was not done good enough by a subcontractor, and Jed would make sure they came back and finish the job correctly. The city inspectors were not always easy to work with, but Basement Concepts knew the codes well and we passed all city inspections. The basement is beautiful and it is all thanks to the hard work and dedication Basement Concepts has for their quality of work.
We do not hesitate a moment in recommending this company to friends and neighbors and if any more work needs to be done on the house, they will be the ones we call. We are very impressed with the company. Many of our neighbors have hired contractors and have not been pleased with the results, plus none of it was inspected. I'm glad we went through the trouble of getting inspections done because we know the quality of work is up to fire codes and we did find out that if anything did happen to our home, it would be covered by insurance where our neighbors maybe denied a claim since their construction was not inspected by the proper authorities.
