Ashley Furniture Home Store

RC Willey and John Parras Furniture have basically been to primary go to stores in this area for as long as I can remember. For a new company like Ashley coming into the market in this area, you would think they would do about anything to become the first choice. I wanted to give this store a shot to see how I liked them. I explained to the sales person when I met him that I had recently come into an inheritance and was doing a major rebuild of my home. I planned to refurnish most of the home with new furniture. Of course my motivation was to get my sales person excited about the possibility of many sales. However, my experience was poor and it seems to me that Ashley employees care little about customer service or their customers needs. First off the sales people seem to have the phrase "oh, we can't do that" burned into their dialogue. Buying the table and chairs was the easy part. But trying to set up a delivery became a joke. Ashley's delivery charge was $40 more than RC Willey or John Parras's. They don't deliver Monday and if you want a weekend delivery it costs even more. When trying to schedule a delivery I was given a date nearly two weeks out. I asked if they could assure the driver call when they were in route so I could hustle home to meet them. I work less than 15 min from home. No, we can't do that was the response. His answer was they would come between 9am and 1pm. I explained I had recently had to miss a lot of work due to construction on my home. I inquired again if they couldn't make an exception to have the driver call when he was coming and again I got a NO. I accepted a Saturday deliver but had to wait till the 9th, three weeks from date of purchase. I should have just cancelled the order then. I received a call on 8/7 advising me that the product wasn't available and that they would deliver mid week the following week. I asked about the extra money I spent on the weekend delivery and was told that could not be refunded. What?? I was forced to schedule for Saturday 8/16. I tried to call Ashley furniture corporate to discuss my dissatisfaction with my purchase and deliver. There is no one in MN corporate that will talk to you. The referred me to talk to someone in AZ. I called that number and got a customer service person that continued to explain to me their rules and what they cannot do for their customers. I finally got so bugged I asked for a management person. I was told I would be called back. That took some time... When I got the call I got nothing but what I got from everyone else. What they cannot and will not do. They care nothing at all that they overcharge for deliveries. They care nothing that I will NEVER make another purchase from their store. When I told the manager that since my purchase at their store, that I had purchased and received nearly $28K in furniture and appliances from their competitor across the parking lot, she cared not at all. Sad. In the end I got the table after 4 weeks. Damaged of course. I sanded and painted it myself to avoid having to deal with Ashley and their band of "won't help" employees.... What happened to customer service? What happened to helping out your customer. In the end all I needed was a crummy phone call from a driver. What does that cost them? Every other competitor does it... Every person I know will know what happened at Ashley. When my house is complete and I have a party to show it off... my tongue will wag. Word of mouth hurts companies.. Ashley could lose a lot of customers.
