"I have been remodeling for over thirty five years and have never had a negative review on a kitchen remodel until now.The customer was a interior designer and of course new more about remodeling than me and my subcontractors. The customer made it very difficult for my subcontractors to do their job by hanging over them and questioning there work.I had four subs that didnt want to come back to finish there work.If you read the rest of our reviews you will see that we have straight A's in the kitchens that we have completed. These are the same subcontractors that I used in all my A reviews."
Really, I was very happy with the whole project. It took awhile to complete, but I have found that any remodel tends to take about twice as long as you expect, for any number of different reasons.
The only "gripe" I have with the project would be the quality of the cabinets. However, let me explain. Fashion Cabinets designed a great kitchen for me. It is practically perfect. The cabinet quality is fine, except for the paint job. I opted for painted maple cabinets. I pretty much had to go with white, although I might have preferred a gray. For some reason, the only painted color they had was white (or much darker colors, which I didn't want.... Maybe they have finally gotten it together as far as painted color options go. You can go to Lowes or Home Depot and their cabinet's offer a huge variety of paint finishes... but I digress.) I love my cabinets and am happy with the white, but less than 3 months after the job was finished, the paint started to flake and peel off. Granted, this has been in the harder use areas and below the sink where there is more contact with water, but that seemed really, really soon for the paint to start to fail. I am pretty sure that if I primed and painted the cabinets myself, they would hold up a lot longer than 3 months. I haven't contacted Bob or Fashion Cabinets about this issue, so I can't say how they would handle my complaint. I really think the cabinets in question should be repainted, and painted better than before. They are expensive, high-quality cabinets. Too bad the paint isn't also expensive and high-quality.
