There were no greasy fingerprints in the car or on the body. The only indication that it had been in the shop was the radio was turned on (we never listen to the radio). The road test went well, and I paid the balance. One week later we took the car on a 500 mile round-trip with no issues.
The only thing added to the original estimate was a $20 gasket set. So no surprises. They did the work agreed to and seem to have done it well.
The only small issue was when I called Ford Powertrain to verify the warranty registration. Rick had told me that as soon as he made an entry into his system, the warranty was registered. That was not technically correct. The warranty was in effect, yes, and that was no issue. However only the Ford dealership can actually register the sale and the individual transmission for warranty in Ford Powertrain's system. There are internal codes that non-Ford installers would not know. The Powertrain representative did tell me that registration is not needed for the warranty to be in effect. All that is needed is the sale date, dealer name, invoice number, and transmission serial number. Rick was able to supply all that information to me for my records on a followup visit. I do not fault Rick at all for this minor detail.
