The first wall looked fantastic. After that wall, the job went slower. They cut some phone lines and I had to pay $400 for them not calling blue stakes. They needed more and more $. I made the mistake of paying all of the money($26k) but no more. They asked for more $. The concrete is now cracking. Some of the rocks can be just pulled right out of the wall. POOR WORKMANSHIP! There are 1/4" cracks in many areas of the wall. The irrigation water lines were broken and leaking. Concrete pads ans sidewalks are cracking and breaking. Tools, brooms, and shovels that they borrowed from me were taken. Wiring that was supposed to be burried was left laying at ground level. One part of my neighbors wall was torn out by mistake and they did not want to fix it at first. I called and called Semi to come back and fix the problems. We did not and promised me that when he returned for the summer season in 2009 that he would correct the problem. I called and called and called all summer in 2009 and he would never come finish the job or make the repairs. He has come to meet with me twice ti get a list of repairs but has never done any additional work. I even caught one of his brothers showing our wall to prospective customers. We had to put a sign in our yard saying "unhappy rock wall customer!" We think our money is lost and that we will have to find another contractor to come and repair the wall. I hope this does nto happen to anyone else. Dont trust Semi or his brothers and definitely dont pay the full amount unless the job is 100% complete and you are 100% happy. When you pay the full amount, they will leave and never come back. They may be good at smaller projects, but I would never hire them for anything again.
Description of Work: Semi Hafoka quoted us to build rock walls, steps, sidewalks, and a concrete pad in front of our house. He showed us other work that he and his brothers/cousins had done locally. They are from Tonga and work in Utah in the summer and in Tonga/Hawaii in the winter. The rock walls were built with conrete in/around the local rocks. Ours was a big job being quoted at $26k. Some of the walls go up to 10 feet high. Semi wanted to do one smaller wall first and have us pay for that and then get half up front and start the big project.
