"Thank you for the work!"
"Thank You!..... and for the work,"
Two days later I was informed by one of my tenants that her unit was not working in its entirety. I called Art, who was again very courteous, and he assured me he would follow up with the technician and schedule someone to come out the following week. He called me back a few moments later explaining that his technician had informed me the unit didn't work and that I would need to replace it. This was new news to me and I felt a bit deceived considering two days earlier I was assured all units were working effectively. Art seemed to be empathetic and claimed he would call me back later that afternoon to get the whole thing sorted and I have yet to hear from him almost two weeks later. I have attempted to reach him, as has the owner of the property, and we have had no luck. Although, our credit card was charged and processed one week after our appointment date.
I have since hired a new company to come and assess the work that was done on my coolers and have been informed the job done by Ace Cooling was inferior and lacked any attention to detail whatsoever. I am still very open to speaking with Art about my experience and hope we can come to a resolution.
"Thank you for this good review. I will be there for you this year. Art Thraen, ACE Air Cond. & Heating."
Made the service call on a Monday morning to repair a leaky swamp cooler at a rental property. The tech met me there that afternoon and was very nice and courteous. I stayed for the duration of the service call. He took the swamp cooler apart, looked things over and assessed that the water was coming from the water line, and it was a simple fix. He made the repairs, and asked me to go inside the house and turn on the cooler so we could test things out. He came back down the latter and said that it looks like that was the only issue. He also showed me a belt that was starting to wear down and asked if I wanted it replaced since he was already there. I asked him how much and was told about $9-$10. He didn't have one on his truck but said he could go grab one really quickly. He said I could leave and that he would go grab a belt and come back to finish up (mind you that this belt was an "optional" repair and according to the tech not related to the leaking issue). Before I left I asked him how much it would be for the repairs. He said $79 for the service call ($10 off for AList) and another 9-10 for the belt. So I was thinking somewhere just under $100. He was going to have the office call me to take care of payment. Everything was great up until this point.
Fast forward to when I get a call from Art to collect the payment for the repairs. I asked him what the total was and he preceded to tell me that it was $189. I was shocked that this was more than double what I had been told. I told him my experience and how things were left with the tech. Art immediately got very defensive and went on and on about how he only does what is necessary and how he's never had this issue before. I listened to him go on and on and then when I went to speak he interrupted me and was extremely unprofessional and continued to be defensive. I explained to him that I asked the tech how much this was going to cost and that the tech never said I needed any of those extra things. He was pretty much done with the repairs when I left. Clearly there was a communication issue, and a simple phone call could have solved everything (Art mentioned that the tech had only been with him a few months and that he would talk to him...and this is my problem?). He asked what would make me happy and that any kind of discount would void any warranty. He was basically yelling at me over the phone and I was almost speechless. He gave me an ultimatum and said that If he gave me any discount and I didn't pay the full amount I would lose any warranty and that I could never do business with them again. Customer service goes a long way, so no thanks Ace, I'm happy to take my business elsewhere.
"July 31, 2015 As of this year I have been in business for close to 20 years. In the 20 years of serving others, fixing air conditioners and furnaces and swamp coolers, I have met the best customers in the world, many of them I have been servicing for more 15 years and have been referred more times by happy/satisfied customers then I can count. I really enjoy the Air Conditioning & Heating business. In doing so, every 4 to 5 years I come across a customer that is determined to not be happy with our service and will tend to be right no matter what is accomplished during the service call. Also, with the “above review” the Job did not go as described by the customer and I have learned that there are some people that I (or others) cannot satisfy no matter how hard we try. I’m sad that the customer is so adamant that she is completely right. We always strive to give the best service and complete every job in a way that will leave the customer completely satisfied. This type of review is quite unusual for our company. The price that was charged was fair and normal. To move forward and do the best we can is my goal. Art Thraen (Ace Air Conditioning & Heating LLC)"
The summer heat is now into triple digits. Last week I had a company (name withheld) scheduled to come to my home and get my swamp cooler started up. The technician of that company never called, and never showed up. So I contacted Ace Air Conditioning & Heating and they responded that same evening!
We scheduled for today (Saturday) from 1-2 p.m. Within that time frame, Art called and told me he was on his way and gave an ETA. Upon timely arrival, he asked a few questions about the swamp cooler, and climbed atop the roof and went right to work. In addition to the cooler startup, he came down and showed me that the pump, the float, and the pump deflector needed replacement. So he again went up and continued working. I have the type of cooler filters that last about five years so he was honest and said they didn't need replacement this year. Within about half an hour, I could feel the cooler working. Art came down and gave me the bill that was quite reasonable. He even recommended a 'clean machine' that could be installed in the future that would extend the life of my filters.
I wish all companies could follow the standard of professionalism that I experienced today with Ace Air Conditioning & Heating. I will definitely call on them again.
(And I just turned 90.) I developed fulil confidence in Ace Air.
Gracious, smart, thorough, excellent installer.
When Art came to my house, his enthusiasm for his trade was evident. He took a quick look at my furnace (hearing it working so loud and forcefully without much heat) and flipped a switch that controlled fan speed and voila fixed a years long problem that the prior HVAC company caused. No charge.
I feared the old plaster ceilings were going to be ruined with hole cutting but all six were done perfectly.
I was up on the roof learning about the new cooler with Art, who is a natural teacher and enjoys what he does.
We did choose to get a new furnace installed and we are very happy with the result. I was happy for the following reasons.
1) He showed up on time on the day agreed.
2) He made suggestions for the best installation.
3) His pricing was reasonable and the final bill was the quoted price.
4) He kept the work area clean.
This is not the first experience the Ace and each time in the past, I have had the same result.
I spent $80 to $100 on that work. They were very good and gave us a tip on a good sheet rock guy. They call up and schedule their visit. They generally come and give a 3 hour time window and arrive in that time window. They set up everything and do the work in half an hour.
