We used a tile place in Wiley called Wiley Tile when we first moved into our house about four years ago now. We kept getting mildew and mold in the shower where they installed the new shower tile. It soon looked like a nasty apartment clean job that I have seen in my Mini-Maid days! Just couldn’t keep it clean! It quickly turned into a bad romance! What started out as love quickly turned into disgust and anger every time I looked at it! One day my husband was re-grouting it and noticed it was leaking from the bottom. We had to call a plumber and he said that the whole shower was going to have to be torn out. So when he started removing tiles, they immediately spotted the problem. The tile guy had placed the plastic water barrier on the wrong side of the tile. This allowed the water to go through the wall, rotting the wood and letting water pool up under the shower floor. It was smelling like sewage! I kept feeling guilty and cleaning it everyday and trying various remedies for the smell. Nothing worked! So now at least I will be getting the type of tiling I wanted In the first place! I hope I don’t sound too grippy but geez! We paid them several thousand dollars for that no good shower! Billy and Terry Savage, so angry!

Honestly, I don't know if I'd hire them again, or not. The picking out and purchasing of the carpet was easy. Chris came out to the house and measured the rooms and that went well. The only problem came at installation. It was raining outside. The business called and asked if they could put the carpet in the garage to be cut. We had already moved out 4 rooms of furniture into the garage and around the house so this was not possible. So we waited and had a few phone calls back and forth about timing and trying to stay away from the heavier rainfalls. I was asked again if the garage was usable. It definitely wasn't. She said she thinks they have decided to cut the carpet at the shop instead which was a great idea. A few hours later the installers arrived. I was a little surprised because I didn't get a final call to let me know they were on the way. After opening the door I quickly asked them to wait because I needed to put the animals into the bathroom. I'm not sure if maybe not allowing the garage for use put a downward relationship on the process or maybe they were in such a hurry because of lost time but there were no introductions or smiles and when they came into the house they did not put anything over my natural maple wood flooring which had to be walked on for the entire length of the house. I had some foot covers and when I asked for them to be put on the oldest of the two said "no". "it is too hard." I showed him how easily they slip on and off the shoes. I showed him how they literally take 2 seconds to put on. He shook his head. He wouldn't even try. I felt like I was begging for respect in my own home. I started to give up but when he walked through the house to see the bedrooms to be worked on I could see the wet and dirty prints all the way through the house, and I mean I could see them extending from the front of the house to the back of the house. When he came out of the master bedroom I showed him the prints and asked again "PLEASE put the shoe covers on". He said this is part of construction, things get dirty. IMO this is not construction because I "myself" removed all the old carpet and vacuumed the slabs before they came in order to decrease the amount of dirty mess left in the house. Anyways, I'm sure the look on my face said it all. He then said "maybe I'll come back another day". I was shocked. We had no bedrooms, no garage, no room to move and this came as a threat to me. He said he would call Chris and walked out of the house. I also called Chris explaining the situation and I'm sure I sounded a bit frantic because I felt so totally disrespected and the idea of someone leaving our house and us in such a mess was astounding. Chris said he would call him. About 15 minutes later he came back in the house and put on the shoe covers. I waited posting this review because I was so bewildered after this exchange and wanted to think more about it and why it happened. After he decided to wear the shoe covers everything went more smoothly. I think they did a good job of installing the carpet and I'm glad he didn't let the situation alter his carpet laying abilities. I'd like to thank them for that. After the carpet was installed I asked him if he would haul off the old carpet. He responded "i don't know"...I quickly said "it's the carpet that came out of the bedrooms that you would be hauling away if you had removed it...and it was only about half of it because we are keeping the other half". Again, I felt like I was begging for something I paid for. He agreed to haul it away. When they drove around to pick up the carpet he asked if the trees he was looking at were plum trees. I said yes. I almost saw a smile and then I gave some benefit of the doubt. That's why I bumped up the D to a C. It was a very strange meeting indeed. The office didn't call afterwards to see how the rest of the day went. When I went to deliver the last check she was nice but didn't acknowledge what happened with an apology. I thought maybe she didn't know what happened. I started to leave and then decided to let her know I was unhappy with the situation that had occurred in my own home. She knew what I was talking about. I guess she just thought it was easier for her not to mention it. She said "Chris did call the installer and get the problem fixed right?" I said yes. But that wasn't the point. She did apologize as I was leaving their workplace. If people would put themselves in the other person's situation a little more often then the world would be a happier place.

"Thank you for the kind review. I will call you next week to see if you are home to come lay a new T-Mold down. We should be caught back up from the tax return rush."

It looked good for a few weeks, then the carpet started to separate from the tack strips. Not long after that, the carpet started to bunch up. We called to request that they stretch the carpet tight and re-tack it, but they wouldn't. The carpet looks like a bedspread that hasn't been smoothed out.

UPDATE: After the review on Angie's List, they contacted us and then came out and fixed the problem. I see a note that they haven't been able to reach us after they fixed the carpet, but we've had the same address and phone number for 5 years. Not sure what happened there, but we are thankful that they came back to fix the carpet. I am increasing the ratings for Quality, Professionalism and Overall.
Response from Wylie Carpet & Tile
"We have since gone by to address the problem with the re-tack, and restretch. Our installers stated they corrected the area of concern, but I have been unable to reach the customer to see if a claim needs to be opened with the manufacturer to determine if the carpet is defective or wearing quicker than the manufacturers warranty."

They put in a high end carpet and high end padding. I have used them in the past and I have referred them to my mother, my neighbors, and several different people. I used them the first time back in 2009. Wendy and Chris are very professional, on time, reasonably priced, Wendy is very knowledgeable. You can take in two different pieces of carpet and say that you have 2 pieces of carpet and one is too dark and 1 is too light and you want something in the middle, and she will take you to exactly what you want. They don't try to oversell, they don't try to sell you things that you don't need, they know exactly what you want and stick with that. They are just very nice people. I am going to be using them in the future to put some wood floors in my house.

I liked them. I had another price and I asked them to meet that price so they did that.

We purchased an existing home and needed to replace the tile and carpeting. We stopped by the store on a Saturday and talked with Chris and Wendy. Chris came out the house about an hour later to take measurements. Over the next week or so we took tile and carpet samples from the store to our house in order to make our selection. The tile had to be ordered, but came in within a week. The removal of our existing tile was tedious and required extensive manual labor. The installers even had to purchase some additional tools to get all the tile removed. However, the 2-person crew did a great job and the new tile looks great. Although the tile removal generates extensive dirt and dust they did an admirable job cleaning up. The carpet installation only took one day. It looks great also. Chris and Wendy did a great job of communicating, keeping us informed at all times. The crews arrived on the days scheduled. We needed to get all the work done before moving in and they made it happen. I would definitely recommend Wylie Carpet and Tile to anyone needing flooring work done.

Overall, I really liked them and would recommend them- in fact I am going to use them to replace my floor tile as well. I hired them to replace my carpet and install Hardwood Laminate. I sent an e-mail to get an estimate and they came out right away to measure and provided a detailed estimate. I have stairs, which I realize can be a big no-no in terms of labor and installation, but they were the most confident about it. My first estimate went so far as to almost talk me out of trying to re-do my stairs (which was the reason I wanted to job to begin with) and Lowes refused to do the stairs because it would require framing and their contractors are not insured for that. After trying to give me a humungous discount to keep my business, Lowes estimate was more than Wylie Carpet, and the choices available were not the same quality. The end result is excellent and I love it! The reason for taking away from a complete 5 star is this- I knew that they hired a contractor to do the work, but Wylie Carpet left all communication about installation and time-lines up to the contractor rather than Wylie Carpet calling me. Also, the job dragged on from 2 days to 4 and they did forget one small transition upstairs and that they needed to come back to complete. This was my first major home project that required me to hire someone to complete, and I may be naive about the time frame it would take to get these things done, so overall I am giving them an Excellent rating and am using them to install my kitchen floor as well as my new counter.
