HERBST TREE SERVICE

Robert Herbst and his crew did a great job. They removed four large dead trees. In the flower beds, they cut down eight very large shrubs and five small shrubs and grinded down the stumps. They were prompt and hard working and made sure everything was clean and neat when the work was complete. We are very pleased with the quality of their work and their professionalism.

We are very pleased and have scheduled a follow up service in the Fall.

We had Robert Herbst trim our trees in 2012 and he did a great job. Naturally, when it was time to trim again we called him and we're very sorry we did. Before I describe what happened, I should say I believe Robert is a knowledgable professional. He was easy to schedule and pleasant to work with. He was not present when this happened. My suspicion is his workers were inexperienced and didn't know what they were doing. That said, if he owns the business and has inexperienced people working those workers should've been supervised. We have a 20+ yr old house with beautiful mature trees. He trimmed 1 tree in our front yard that looks great. He was present for this trimming. The trees he trimmed in back are a different story. He trimmed 6 trees and was not present for the portion of the job that went wrong. My problem is with 2 live oaks lining our back fence. Our backyard was a private, shaded oasis in which to relax and one of the biggest reasons we bought this house. When we would look around all we would see was nature. Now all we see are our neighbors' roofs and 2nd story windows!! Further our neighbors now have a nice bird's eye view right into our yard! I'd be ok with a temporary loss of privacy but he took the bottom of our tree canopy from slightly above our fence to 10+' above it. That's right, 10+ FEET! I just don't see how the tree will fill in that much space downward. When my husband saw the trees for the first time he said "OMG, the guy butchered our trees!" Since Robert minimized my concern when I brought it up, I thought I'd take a look around. I've been driving all over neighborhoods in my area and have found very few trees (maybe 2) with branches this far above the fence. If you google "broccoli tree" or "lion tailing" you'll see what I believe he did. According to a December 2011 article in the Dallas Morning News, a general rule of thumb is for a tree trunk to account for 1/3 of the trees' total height. Looking at my trees, I'd say my trunk now accounts for about 1/2 of its height. When I discussed this with him he told me to get a trellis and plant a vine. The trellis would need to be 25' high to get our privacy back. I suppose that's all he could say. The damage had been done and there's absolutely nothing that can be done to fix it. My husband and I are just sick over this. One of the features we loved most about our house is gone, likely for good. Incidentally, he trimmed my neighbor's trees after completing mine and my neighbor still has a very private backyard with branches just above the fence. I later restated my dissatisfaction to him in writing. I just can't believe an experienced tree service wouldn't take privacy into consideration. To his credit, he responded immediately with concern, taking partial responsibility for not "communicating more clearly". He never admitted a mistake was made or offered any type of renumeration. I would've liked to have seen him try to make it right by pro-rating our fee and deducting an appropriate amount for the 2 trees. He said that in 3-4 months the trees will fill out very nicely. I very much hope he's right. If they do I will update this post at that time and happily eat crow. If you do decide to use Robert because of his other stellar reviews, make sure you get a DETAILED description of what he's going to do. I would even ask him to mark the branches he's planning to cut so that if he leaves the site his guys will know what to do.

Robert was very professional and it was obvious he cares about the quality of his work. I recommend using his service without reservation.

Robert and company did exactly what he said he was going to do exactly when he said he would do it. It was quality work done with professionalism.

It was great. The person that came out and did the sales call was very knowledgeable about trees. He had trimmed one of my neighbor's trees and done a fabulous job. They were on time when they said they could be there. They were very responsive and helpful. They cleaned up all their mess and took the whole tree with them, which was nice. I thought their price was very reasonable. Their demeanor and customer service skills are excellent.

i telling a neighbor of mine that I needed My tree's trimmed badly.He gave me Robert's number to call.When I called Robert,He was very nice on the phone,and could come the same day to give me an estimate.When Robert came out,and was looking at My tree's,I gave him an idea of what I needed done.He was very knowledgeable about tree's,and made me feel at ease like he knew what he was doing.He explained everything he was going to do,and gave me a fair estimate.The way he talked it sounded like he was really busy,but could get to my tree's within the week.He told me of everything he was going to do,so there would be no surprises after he was finished.A couple days later,he called and said he would be out to trim my tree's.When I got home from work that day,I looked at my tree's.The only word I could come up with was WOW what an excellent job he did.I was blown away and almost speechless.When he came to collect,all I had was praise of what an excellent job he did.He took all the limbs away also.He made sure I was happy with the work,and recommended every 2 years.A few of my neighbors was home when Robert and the crew did their work.My neighbors were also impressed.I recommend Robert to everyone I know.

After I wrote out the check, I had to leave. My own home is over 40 miles away from my rental. That is why I had not visited it since I rented it out and got a property manager. I am not pleased now with the way that my property manager has seen to my property. Ebby Halliday Property Management in McKinney. I had to ask for pictures from the most recent inspection and it was obvious that it was taken at around 7:30 pm. But Robert, boy, is he king of a great deal and get it done! I was due there at 11:30 am. I had to leave from my Arlington property pretty early. It only took me 45 minutes. So, I was way early. Robert calls when he is going to be late. I love that because I am the type that shows up too early. And he comes prepared. Gives you the great deal. I used him before and now that I know he does work in Arlington, will so much use him again.

This was a major tree trimming and shrub clean up project. I will try to post the before and after pictures and revise this review to include a link to them.

When I called Mr. Herbst for an appointment to give me an estimate for trimming and pruningtrees, he responded in a timely manner and showed up on the day and time agreed upon. Onthe day of the actual work, he and his crew were prompt. I appreciate their dependability in keepingto an agreed upon schedule. They did an excellent and very professional job. The crew also did an outstanding job of cleaning up and hauling away all the limbs and cuttings. I highly recommendHerbst Tree Service.

I called him on Thursday, May 3rd and made an appointment for 8:30 on Friday, May 4th. He was right on time. He looked the tree over and gave me a reasonable estimate. We agreed to an 8:30 appointment on Monday, May 7th, to prune the tree. Again he was right on time. He and his helper finished pruning the tree, stacking the branches and leaving my drive and yard clean of debris by 10:30. Due to his promptness and integrity, I will not hesitate to recommend him to friends and I plan to have him return in 2 years before this tree gets back in the same shape!

After we called and left a message, he called back within an hour. It was a very wonderful experience. They stuck by their original price. They cleaned everything up. They are very nice people.

I've been having some foundations issues, I had been told that my tree was a cause of the problem. I called Herbst, and he came over within 30 mins and gave me some recommedations. I was originally trying to get some Root Barrier work done, which was a suggestion by the foundation company. This was not going to to be a certian fix. Robert was helpful and gave me alternative options that were more practical. I hired his services and he was here the next day and the work was done.

I was awoken at 5 am on a Sunday morning by my husband, who was leaving for the airport on a business trip. There was a tree down in the driveway and he wanted to see if we could move it enough to allow him to get by. It was difficult in the dark to see the full extent of the damage. We couldn't budge it. When I got up in the morning, I discovered that we had two trees down. One was within 8 feet of the house (we're lucky it fell on the driveway). The other was in the yard, further from the house, but it was split into three downed pieces, one of which was resting against the roof. I put in calls to a few tree services. Herbst was the only one that responded that day. I was concerned because I could not get out, and in case of an emergency, I was trapped. The owner came and gave me an estimate. He pointed out some other things that needed doing--I have another dead tree (from the drought), a partially dead magnolia tree, some oaks that are rubbing my roof, and a pecan tree that needs trimming. He quoted a price of $1950 for all of the work, including grinding stumps the two totally damaged trees. I did not have that much money at my disposal at the current time, so he agreed for $950 to simply finish cutting the two damaged trees, cutting everything up, and removing all wood and the brush. He told me that he could cut some of it up for firewood, which I declined. (I have 2 fireplaces, but I don't use them.) He said that he would try to come back the next day (Monday) late in the day. Before he left, he cut up what was lying in my driveway and stacked it. When I spoke to my husband that evening, he said that I should probably have gotten more estimates. I sent an email to Herbst telling him that I was going to get more estimates, so not to come on Monday afternoon unless he had heard from me, and that if I went with someone else, I would pay him for what he had already done. On Monday morning, I got the estimates, and all were in the same ballpark, even though one reflected a price with a 20% discount for Angie's list members. I had already decided that I would go with Herbst unless he was really out there, so I called him midmorning (around 9 am) and asked him if he had rescheduled someone else for that afternoon. He hadn't, and was very understanding about what I had done (I was a little upset with myself for having hired him and then backed off after he had responded so quickly and efficiently on Sunday.) He showed up Monday afternoon and the trees were all cut and gone by the end of the day.

This is an EXCELLENT COMPANY! I called Robert to get an estimate for removing two tall ash trees from my front yard. I left a message and he returned my call immediately. Within 24 hours Robert came out and quoted me an estimate that was much lower than two other companies. Robert and his crew did an excellent job removing the two trees and cleaning up afterwards. Robert is a very nice gentleman and I will definitely use his company again. I have already given his name out to people at my office.

Mr. Herbst came out the same day I called and gave me an estimate for the work. It seemed to be a fair estimate, so scheduled a time and day for him to return to accomplish the work. He and his crew showed up on time and got right to work. I was very pleased with the job they did and will definitely use them again.

I called this company in the late afternoon on a Wednesday, they called me back promptly and made an appointment for the next morning to do an estimate at 8:30. They were here at 8:30, gave us the estimate and were prepared to do the job right away if we accepted the estimate. We did accept the estimate because it was half what 3 other services were going to charge, plus Herbst tree service was insured just like they were. This business owner knew what he was doing, jumped in and did a professional job without price gouging. I would hire him again in a heartbeat and intend to do so for any future work.

Herbst was the third Angie's list provider I contacted about trimming this tree. Two other businesses gave me the run around but not Herbst. I called on a Thursday afternnon, was met at my house at 7:30 the next morning. The tree was quoted at $250 plus tax. Herbst returned about an hour later and left a two man crew on site. They talked with my neighbors for their cars to be moved and did an excellent job. They took great care in not dropping limbs on the house and even blew out my gutters when they were done.

Excellent experience. I called Herbst Tree Service yesterday to get an estimate on trimming back 2 large trees in my front yard. I left a message and Robert promptly returned my call and scheduled a visit for the following morning at 9:00am. Right at 9:00am, Robert arrived, and we did a walk-around, as I had other trimming that I also wanted to get his estimate on as well in addition to the 2 trees. We agreed on a price of $800 for the whole job. Robert and his crew went to work immediately and by lunchtime, the yard looked great. The crew wasted no time. They did everything that we agreed to. Then they cleaned up after themselves and left the yard debris-free. Robert is cordial and very pleasant to deal with. I am very pleased and give Herbst Tree Service top ratings in all categories because: (a) my initial call was returned promptly, (b) they showed up right on time the next day, (c) the work was started immediately and completed efficiently to my complete satisfaction, and (d) they cleaned up after themselves and left the yard looking great. Robert and his crew clearly take pride in their work. The bottom line is that less than 24 hours after I first called them, my yard looks great. I will definitely call them again the next time I need tree service.

Robert Herbst called me back within hours of when I left him a message about coming to cut my trees. He has worked on my trees many times in the past and has always done a beautiful job. We agreed on a date for new service, and he arrived right on time with his crew. We walked my property and discussed what needed to be cut and how much and how it would look when completed. I left for work and came back after the job was done. Everything was EXACTLY as we had discussed, and he had hauled away all of the debris. Dependable, prompt, perfect service. Well worth the money.

Mr. Herbst called me back very promptly after I left the initial voice message. He came out quickly and gave me an estimate, which was very reasonable, The other 2 estimates I received were $300 to $500 more than his. Also his bid included cleaning out the gutters and trimming more trees than the other estimates. He was ready to do the job the next day, but the weather interferred. However, as soon as the weather cleared up, his crew was here ready to go. They did the work quickly and cleaned up completely, which was a feat in itself because they hauled off two large trailers full of limbs and branches. I would definitely use them again and will refer this service to my friends.

He and his team were punctual, professional and very knowledgable. They cut down the tree, loaded it on their trailer and raked up and removed all the leaves in the yard. They did such a good job at such a good price, I've had him give me an estimate on planting 2 new trees.
