Custom Rain

The job was to install a short length of underground pipe and a pop-up emitter at the discharge end of the pipe, for conveying rain water away from house. The lid to the emitter was pushed off the pipe by the water. When I complained about that, they attached the lid with screws, which made it very difficult to remove the lid to clean out the pipe. A pop-up emitter was available from hardware stores with a snap-on and snap-off lid for a low price, which they should have installed. So the job was not done properly.

This project could not have gone any better. Ken was prompt in replying to my request on Angie's List and we met within a few days for an estimate that was very reasonable. The job went so well, we had him install sod and we now want to use him for other projects in the future. It would be so nice if all contractors were prompt, reasonable in their pricing and did a great job in a timely manner. We have not experienced that in a long time - thank you, Ken!

The initial work was performed in 2017. I was not happy with the fact they stacked loose rock up to the bottom of our siding (taking away the deterrent for termites to enter). Also, after 6-9 months, the drain in the driveway began to sink. After many contacts spanning months, they did come out and repair it nicely at no cost.

Ken and his team were quick, professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. The work was impeccable, and looks marvelous. Ken talked me through each step, and educated me as to why I was experience water leakage into my house. Ken was onsite each morning to ensure work was progressing, and after everything was completed he walked me around the property to discuss the work done, and any potential things to be aware of. Plus Ken is just a good dude.

The job went very well. We got multiple bids prior to the start of work. Custom Rain was significantly lower than the closest bid, but their plan seemed sound so we proceeded with them. They arrived the following week and completed the work in 3 days. The results have been excellent. Prior to the drainage installation we were getting water in the house and the crawl space flooded. After the work was complete we have been through several heavy rain events and everything is dry. They did an excellent job.

After 1 year I can say all drains they installed worked very well but the sod installation covering the installed French drains was not good at all. Several of the drains are set too low and makes for areas where lawn is not easily walked. Sod was not set close together or level. Yard was fine before and now it looks and feels bad. A lot of the grass they installed has died even in areas where they added sprinkler heads. All that said I have to say that I no longer have flooding in my yard during a hard rain. I added a photo but it doesn't show it well.

Owner is very knowledgeable.
Trenching and installation of French drains went well as did cutting through curb, replacing valves and installing additional heads. 
A few issues were communication with owner following above listed work as he had a gutter company come and install downspout (they did a great job) but never knew when (or if) they would come.  Other issue was their placement of sod over the trenches. Yard is pretty bumpy, but next summer will tell if it smooths out after grass grows. Also not sure if basins are at the correct level. grandkids would probably have a problem running around yard due to high and low spots. 
All in all I think they did what I wanted.  Time will tell. Pretty sure draining issue is fixed.

He took couple of days to come in. But he did the job right and charged very reasonable price without any negotiation.

The project went very well. Each step was done in a timely manner and was very professional.  Communication with Ken throughout the project was excellent. The price was comparable to to other estimates I received and better than some.
I have absolutely no complaints and am very pleased with the results.  I would definitely recommend Custom Rain to others.

Ken was recommended by a foundation repair company.  They indicated the drainage should be fixed before any consideration of foundation repair.
Ken was fast to come out and view the area needing drainage.  He was able to provide a quote on site and made additional recommendations.
Once scheduled, Ken's crew arrived on time and worked throughout the day to ensure the job was completed before the day finished.  Ken came by to ensure the project was satisfactory in late afternoon.
The installed a French Drain along the entire side of my home and included the down spouts to the new drainage system.
Ken was happy to provide recommendations on other areas that could affect the drainage issue and was not pushy at all.
While Ken was at the job, he recommended using some of my existing materials to supplement the drainage outflow and offer to have his crew do that without additional cost.
Overall I would be glad to reccomend Ken to friends or family in need of any services that he provides.

I live in a pier and beam house that was built in 1950.  The house starting cracking everywhere and door would only shut half way or would not open al all.  So I called All Pro foundation repair (2nd foundation company to look) and they told me that had a drainage problem 1st and foremost.  They recommended Custom Rain.
 Custom Rain came and knew by looking around the house in a few minutes exactly what needed to be done.  They showed up a week later and installed a French drain and removed all trees in a 10 foot fence area then replaced with a new fence.  All this work was done in 1 day with a large crew and they did all this work by hand so as not to damage pipes.  They also replaced they water shut off value top and box that had cracked do to these wonderful and extremely hot Texas summers at no additional charge.
I was very impressed when I saw all that was happening when I came home for lunch that day and that the crew seemed like they all enjoyed there work and were very skilled at what they do.  I highly recommend  Custom Rain and thanks much to the owner Ken.
Side note.. now I can open and close doors.  Some cracks are healing and I am very happy and glad I called Custom Rain.  Oh and they have been in business for about 20 years plus.  Ken the owner really knows his business.

Excellent.  I was so worried they would forget to reattach a sprinkler or the water wouldn't drain, but everything was perfect.  They went above and beyond too.  Ken called and asked what we wanted him to do with the excess soil they dug up and didn't need.  He could cart if off or leave it here in a mound.  I told him I needed to regrade around the house foundation.  They spread the dirt evenly around the entire house so all I had to do was grade in down for runoff.



Two days later I thought they didn't reattach a sprinker so I called.  He drove all the way out from Garland and it was my bad, the sprinker I thought wasn't working was assigned to a later zone.  I felt so bad I paid their gas, but not one complaint about their wasted trip.  Thanks and sorry guys.

Ken quoted about $500 les than other bids.  He showed up when he said he would.  It was a two day job and was done late in the evening on the second day.  He reconnected the sprinkler heads.  We asked him to save our monkey grass which he did.  He took the soil he removed and put it in places we needed better runoff.  Everything works as expected and hopefully this solved our foundation issues.
