He did good work and we're paying him as work progressed and when it got down to the last payment he pulled his crew and left, and we still have unfinished work here and we're not happy with that. They were doing good work but he never showed up for the last payment and didn't finish the work.

On the onset we realized we had a problem when found the Electricain working from the wrong set of plans.  Bass had given him the window and door schedule, so we did not get electrical per the plans.  Upon inspection of plumbing, we found that we had no outside sipgot although requesting several times and on the plans.  Kitchen window was install incorrectly which offset the cabinets leaving a gap at the refrigeration and having to order more cabinet to make it work, but still not fixed.  In an interior loft window with grills spindles set 4" apart were found to be offset and not plumb and when complained about it was given instructions on how to fix it.  The front door transom does not match the door side light windows and not per instructions and was told design outlined was not available. Other than a few other little things (like missing materials, locks, etc.), we accepted the above as its a beautiful home, except for one big issue and dreadful mistake on our part.  On 27July2012, we paid Bass their full fee and haven't had any work since on puch list items and promises to fix issues.  Upon compliant, Bass refuses to complete the work without us present knowing full well that we can't drive 3 hours every time he decides to show up or send one of his subs.  This I find is a ploy on their part as they are working another out of town job and want us to supervise the work.  We are partially moved in, but fear to be broken into as we must leave the entry key code alone and alarm off to allow for Bass entry or worse yet any of the subcontractors that have been given the code.  We still find them showing up unschedule to show their work to prospective clients.  Plus, we can't totally move in as we have a safety hazard as the stair railing is not install and can't allow our grankids unsupervised.  OMG. I just now got a email stating that subs would be available if I could be there,  I replied that if he was willing to pay me for lost wages I would be more than happy to supervise his workman. We have pleded our case with Bass with no success, so now unfortunately must plede it in public.  I am very sorry for this as I enjoyed working with Bass.
