DOVE'S JEWELERS

My now-ex-husband purchased my wedding ring from this jeweler and it was a very high quality, clear cut diamond... or so we thought. After having it for 3 years, I took it in for a routine cleaning for them to tell me that the diamond had chipped. WHAT? That's unheard of. Diamonds don't chip, especially when they're worn with care like mine was. I took it home and thought about my options for awhile. Once I knew about the damage, you could definitely see where part of the diamond was missing. They had built the ring in the first place, so whether it was from faulty craftsmanship or poor diamond selection at market, I felt they were to blame for this happening. I went back to the store and told them that I wanted the diamond replaced. They said no. That's fine. I said ok, I want it recut so the chip doesn't show. They took my number and said they would discuss it with the man who cuts their stones and get back to me. A month later I still had not heard from them. I called them again and was told they had forgotten to ask him when he was in town last, but they would this time.  FINALLY they tell me two weeks later that he can't do that because apparently the diamond is brittle and it may crumble altogether.  I said I wanted my money back then because they sold us a brittle diamond.  Their only offer was that I could sell it in their store.
