The electrician that came was very nice, brought an apprentice and did the job I asked them to do. Then I received the bill in the mail for 245 dollars. They said that the work they performed took Two and a half hours. The electricians were only there for one and a half hours. When I called to ask why it was so much they said "Well they start the time for them being on the clock when they leave the shop." (which they had never told me when I got the original quote) I said "Ok but that still doesn't make sense why they are saying it took them two and a half hours." We live in Wichita Falls, TX and to get from one side of this town to the other it takes 15 minutes in traffic. They were at my house for one and a half hours, and 30 minutes with driving time all together does not equal two and a half hours. So the over charged me by 45 dollars and when I had originally called I asked if they had a military discount and they said yes. When I had called, the lady at the front desk directed me to the manager and when I told him what happened he pretty much told me there was nothing he could do. I said, "well what about the military discount" and he turned and asked his secretary if she had promised me a discount and in a really loud and defensive voice said "NO SIR I DID NOT." So I ended up paying the money and will not be using this company again and suggest that you also go with a company that will give you all the facts up front and are truthful about them.
"I am sorry that you feel like you were overcharged for the installation of two (2) receptacles but you were charged for the amount time spent on your job. It is standard practice that time spent on a call starts when the electrician leaves the shop until he returns. The installation of the two receptacles was not a little 10 minute job. Even though another receptacle was, as you say, 2 feet, away you still have to run the wire up into the attic and then get it back down to where you want the receptacle, it can't be done in 10 minutes, or at least be done correctly in that amount of time. As far as the "military discount" you were never told that you would receive a "military discount". We have never given "military discounts." I am the person that took your call and I know, without a moments doubt, that I did not tell you we gave "military discounts"! In your letter that accompanied your payment to us you said that you called around for prices, I think that you have us confused with someone else you called. They cut away the large branch from the service line, which released the tension on it. They then reattached the line to the house, putting the conduit back like it should be.
They took care of the problem in a way that was economical to me without any unnecessary add-ons. They did leave the large branch for me to take care of, but that was okay since I wanted to keep it for firewood.
I did have to call as I never received a bill, but the office was able to take my payment by phone and I received their receipt promptly.
