We met Matt and Texas Land Design a couple years ago when we started planning our project. We were attracted to the company because of their ads that said they work with native, drought tolerant plants. We were interested in a very Texas, natural look that had hardscape, and native plants that were drought tolerant and shade tolerant.
We were having grass problems because of our trees. We wanted to replace a lot of the yard with landscape. We went through several iterations of plans that reached our desired look, contained plants we liked, and met our budget.
Matt was very knowledgeable about the plants. He had many good suggestions and backup suggestions for us. He selected plants that met the shade, drought, and native criteria as well as had different coloring blooms at different times of the year at different height levels.
Matt was very patient and attentive. He carefully reviewed and reviewed again the plants we selected. He made the necessary plan changes when budget and/or plant decisions changed. He sent pictures of the plans so we knew what we were getting.
We went to view some of his work at other client's houses. They were all impressive looking, and everyone had good things to say about him.
Our project went very quickly. The team was very professional and hard working. First, they did a thorough job of removal and prep work. Next, they did the hardscape. They installed a flagstone patio extension to our existing patio, a dry river rock creek bed, a stone border, a flagstone stepping path, and scattered heavy boulders. Then, they laid out and installed the new plants and covered ground with mulch. Finally, they installed new Zoysia sod in the remaining yard.
Everything looked great. Matt gave us instructions on how to care for our plants and grass.
Neighbors out walking in the neighborhood stop by to tell us how great the yard looks. We get compliments all the time. We easily won yard of the month for our HOA the month after our project completed.
In the months afterwards, Matt continued to provide advice and check on our plants when we were concerned. We really appreciated his followup.
The only complaint I have is I have had to dig out the plans many times to remind me the names of the plants since they are so unusual and different people stop and ask. I prefer Matt knows the names and I just enjoy the beautiful landscape.
We can not say enough about the wonderful experience we had with Matt and Texas Land Design. Professional, knowledgeable, creative on the design, just everything was well done.
He and his crew were there when they said they would be. On the design phase, he did a great job on the design (which included the front yard and back yard). He took the time to go over each plant chosen, so we could decide if we wanted that plant or not. We did make a couple of changes, as Matt always told us the pros and cons of each selection.
To date, we have had numerous compliments on the front yard. If people you do not know (people out walking the neighborhood) stop and tell you how great it looks, you figure that it looks pretty good!
Matt is very personable, super easy to work with, and we can highly recommend him.
We are delighted with the final result which is nothing short of spectacular. From start to finish our expectations where
exceeded. This job was worth every dollar we invested.
We are convinced that the success of our project is due to Matt’s knowledge, judgment and expertise; in other words, his personal touch.
From a practical standpoint, TLD stayed on budget both in time and money. There were no surprises.
Communication was great. They cleaned up each day and there was a minimal amount of inconvenience.
We are comfortable making these favorable comments and referral based on the excellent work that was performed.
We recommend Texas Land Design unconditionally and without reservation.
