The communication after the installation wasn't good, and I thought the price was a bit high.

I had scheduled an appointment this company several days ago to come out. I spoke to two people about this. I had a call once again confirming the appointment, in excruciating detail, with at least to people during that call. Each time they repeatedly asked me, even by different people in the same call, if it was a good time and informing me that the appointment may take anywhere between 1-2 hours, and that they wanted be to sure I would have enough time and didn't have to leave anywhere or have any other appointments. I don't know how many times I had to assure them the time would work. I can freed up my entire evening for the appointment. So naturally, after having taken off work early to get home and get things ready, I became upset when no one had shown up, or even called a half hour after scheduled appointment time. I called the number that last called me. No company branding announcement, but said the call would be recorded, then transferred me to some guy's voicemail. I hung up and continued to wait. Furious, I called again, this time the same announcement threatening to record the call (but not branding, so I'm not sure it's the right place) and this time a woman answered "StormTightWindows" and I told her I was waiting for my appointment. She transferred me to another woman who said their guy got caught up in another project and "when would be a good time to reschedule this?" RESCHEDULE? I think not. I cleared my schedule days ago for them. I left early, cleaned the house, waited and waited, and not even a courtesy call that they might be running late. This company only has a rating of 2-stars on Yelp!, and it was only after great effort that I was able to find them here on Angie's List... but their profile appears to be empty, only their address is listed. This should WARN you about this company. Here's another thing that had bothered me about this company: when setting up the appointment they asked (on a scale of 1-10) how good I thought my credit score was. Excuse me!? I haven't signed any contract with them, I haven't expressed my interest in purchasing windows through them, I haven't even had the appointment yet! I was still scheduling one... and probably would get other estimates first. But they're talking about financing? It's none of anyone's business to ask how good/bad they think their credit score is. (I usually use my personal 0% credit cards anyway, so I wouldn't even finance with them, anyway.) But this makes me suspect that a company may alter their prices depending on whether they think you can afford it or not. I do not think this is a good business tactic. I'm staying away.

My wife was approached by the door-to-door guys trying to schedule an appointment. She was told both husband and wife had to be at the presentation to ensure the product was agreed upon.
Phone coordinator was VERY aggressive, calling 2x within 15 minutes to try and schedule. On the phone I specifically asked how long the presentation was, and was told twice it would be 1 hour. Scheduled at 5:30 PM one evening.
Sales was on time, brought in a ton of product examples/samples. Presentation was your typical car salesman/high pressure tactic. Show all facets of the product and how they are more awesome than everyone. Sales did measure all windows, and ask VERY baited questions about what we were looking for in windows.
After product samples were reviewed for 2 HOURS!!! We got to pricing. PRice was originally 75k for 35 windows. Knocked down to 50k on the spot. When I VERY CLEARLY explained we were in it only for pricing the hard sell began. Could we finance? Did we need less down? Could we do partial windows without doing the full house? Answer was NO to each question and I VERY CLEARLY stated there would be no sale that night.
Sales then let me know he would have to review with his manager right then. Again I CLEARLY stated no sale was going to happen(and started to get very upset that he didn't get the hint). Manager was contacted on the spot and then more pressure was given.
I like the product, I hate the sales experience. Felt like buying a car from a very sleazy used car salesman.

The estimator/salesman arrived at 9 AM and completed the presentation at 2 PM. The estimator/salesman was not high pressure but the length of the presentation was too long. The presentation consisted mostly of information and demonstrations that I considered gimmicky. At the end of the presentation the estimator quoted an estimate of $42,000. Based on phone conversations with other replacement window providers I found on Angie's List this estimate was approximately $25,000 higher than the average. After I declined the $42,000 estimate the estimator said he may be able to lower the price to $32,000 with manager approval. I also declined the counter offer. The estimator left without providing a written estimate or any other documentation and only provided a business card after I requested it which he wrote only his first name on a company card. It should also be noted the presentation mentioned the company was "Angie's List nominated". I told the estimator/salesman I used Angie's List and could not find any mention of his company on the list to which he responded he didn't place any weight on Angie's List opinions.

We called for a quotation - rep did spend quite some time with us explaining and demonstrating the windows, what they could do, and how they are different to other windows. I have had quotations and the same visits from a Home Depot rep, as well as another company and the presentation time is about the same for all companies. They all want to show you their product and what they offer.
The day we agreed to have the installation done by StormTight, even through the cost for the windows was about 500.00 more than the Home Depot quote for the same window area, we felt we were getting better quality windows.
We had set out to get windows that stopped the heat in areas that get the maximum amount of sun, two of the larger windows were going into children's rooms.
We did not necessarily need the added benefit of the window strength (certified for 180 mile an hour winds), but really needed the heat coming in those windows all day to stop.
The installation took less than a day, and was carried out by the StormTight company - not be third party contractors (which is what the other companies were offering). They cleaned up after themselves, and gave us a thorough run through as to how to operate everything as well as made us check that we were happy with the installation.
There was a problem with one of the screens, which the contractors came in the following day to repair and replace.
We have a lifetime guarantee on the windows, and screens. Apparently if the screen becomes damaged in any way, we call StormTight and they will replace/repair it for free.
Day 1 after installation in the heat of the afternoon, I went upstairs. I noticed a HUGE difference in the heat coming in the windows. There was NONE on coming in the windows on the Stormtight window side of the house, and the heat on the other side of the landing with the regular windows was as the same as it had ever been. The kids rooms were cooler and the airconditioner had not been running almost the entire day as per normal (we keep the AC at 80 upstairs during the day)
So impressed, we will pay off these ones, and then replace the ones on the other side with the same. I think that I would find it really hard to go for a cheaper window through another company when the cost difference was not that great, but the heat difference and customer service was.
We have had wonderful follow up customer service. Phone calls throughout to let us know the process and how long until we received the windows, as well as an appointment time set up for the installation.

Sales rep took over 90 minutes to present the product, a good product, but the final price was extremely high. Additionally, he was unable to quote the entire work. During the walk through he kept sighing and mumbling seemingly to himself how this is a difficult and costly job. Very unprofessional in this way. Again, good product but not good customer service and salesmanship!

Needless to say once we had determined that the pricing for the windows were absolutely ridiculous, the salesman still spent an hour of our time being relentless and tying to negotiate, despite us being extremely blunt about not wanting to do business. He became rude and unapologetic. Bad business acumen.

The Storm Tight Windows sales representative, Gerry Vestal, reminded me of a car salesman. His and quot;pitchand quot; took three hours. And then we couldn't get him to leave. His initial price for replacing our windows was $25,000. When we told him we had quotes for less than half that cost he and quot;called his managerand quot;. After haggling back and forth we settled on a price of $11,500 (less than half). Within a week of signing the contract his manager called and said they'd need $3500 more to do the job. We said and quot;No wayand quot;. We received our deposit check back in the mail within a week. Honestly the windows he showed us looked like quality windows. But they won't get my business with tactics like this.
