H2 Construction started our project approximately 3 weeks late, due to complications on previous projects. Once the project started, things seemed to be going well and the project was progressing as anticipated. However, toward the end of the project timeline (factoring in the 3 week delay) it became apparent that the project was not going to be completed prior to H2 Construction starting a new project. The new paint on our master and guest bath vanities was peeling off due to poor adhesion to the wood and needed to be repainted, the new vanity lights in the guest and half baths were not yet installed, and a number of other smaller "punch list items" remained to be completed (bathroom thresholds staining, routing edge of exposed stairway treads, repainting stairway molding, banister polishing, and several others). On the last day of H2 Construction being on-site, it was agreed that they would come back on-site the following one to two weeks to complete these items. After more than 2 months, and repeated contact attempts made by us by both phone, email, and text messages, H2 Construction never returned to the site to complete the project. With a desire to finish the project, and a means to do so, we as the homeowners completed the remaining items, including addressing the vanity paint issues (building new vanity cabinet doors, sanding cabinet faces to bare wood, re-priming and painting them), installing vanity lights, addressing stairway needs (threads and molding), and fixing other issues that were communicated to the contractor. Based on the itemized costs in the signed contract, and the amount already paid to H2 Construction, the costs owed to us for this work totals $1000. In addition to these costs, there was an agreement to select a particular glass company to install the master bath shower door. We paid 25% of the agreed costs for this company, an amount of $700. This company never showed up on-site. At the request of H2 Construction, we contacted a different glass company (one recommended by them) to complete the shower door fabrication and installation. We paid 100% of the costs for this door. We need to be reimbursed the $700 deposit associated with this vendor change. This brings the total costs owed to us to $1700. These costs were explained in detail to H2 Construction in multiple forms of communication, including emails and a certified Demand Letter sent to H2 Construction by an attorney we are affiliated with. To date, H2 Construction has not responded to either us or our attorney. H2 Construction repeatedly failed to complete the remaining work on our project, and has repeatedly failed to respond to us to pay the costs owed to us for the work we performed and the deposit that needs to be reimbursed. It is clear to us the H2 Construction is unable to manage projects effectively to ensure customers are satisfied with the work performed, nor is the work completed in a timely manner by the agreed-upon timeline. Their inability to respond whatsoever about costs owed to a client is a severe customer service complaint. Even though other aspects of the job were satisfactory, we are greatly disappointed in how the project turned out based on the explanation above. We would not recommend this company to anyone given our experience.
Description of Work: Our master bathroom, guest bathroom, and half bathroom were being partially or fully remodeled. In addition, the stairway carpet was being removed with stained oak treads and repainted risers installed.
