I gave Joel Downs of Texas Horse Stalls $10,500 as a Down-Payment for a metal building behind my house in Plano and never saw him again. We have gotten nothing but broken promises and lies from Joel for 6 Months. I fired him and hired another company that built the building in 4 Weeks. Now we can't get any money back just more lies and excuses (it's never his fault, he is always the victim). Now we are having to hire a Lawyer. This nightmare has been going on for more than a half a year. He gives the rest of us Contractors a bad name. Do not trust this guy! He should be in jail.

My father has hired a company, Texas Horse Stalls, to build a barn on his property. This has been a terrible experience and I would avoid using this company!!!!! He has given us A LOT of empty promises and excuse after excuse. Even after 9 months the job still has not been completed, only slab ( which we had to pay cash directly to the contractor) and some framing. We gave him a deposit of 20k and have hardly seen a days work. He promises to deliver material but then doesn't show up. I'm sure he does this to all his clients and uses their money and doesn't complete work.

This was a horrible experience that was supposed to be a good/fun experience.  I have given Joe Downs/Texas Horse Stalls over 22k and only have a slab and 8 outer posts for 10 months of work.  I have given the guy more than enough chances and have been more than fair, which is nothing but excuse after excuse.  Empty promises that others have dealt with as well.  I have communicated with him through texts for 10 months and will post the conversation at a later date.  My attorney's letter will go out tomorrow 7/27/2016 and hopefully I will get my money back and never have to deal with this guy again.  I have another contractor that built my brothers barn and he has told me that he can start in 3 weeks and finish it in 3 days.  I initially was going to use this contractor, but he was back logged by months and Joel Downs told me that he could finish it in 4 to 6 weeks depending on weather.  I understand that there has been weather delays and I will give him that, but 10 months later I have almost nothing.  I have seen the new contractors work and he does a great job and delivers what is requested unlike Joel Downs and Texas Horse Stalls.

I hired him last September, the completion date was supposed to December. I gave him 25K up front (which was half of what the total cost was going to be) and he has only done 5k worth of work. He would come out 1 or 2 days a week only working a couple hours at a time. His crew comes out and just sits around and doesn?t do any work- I have video of them doing this. I met with him in January, where he explained that he took our money and used it for another job. He asked for our sympathy with a time extension so he could do other jobs and make our money back to complete the project. As of June 23rd, I have officially asked him to leave the job because he has asked for more money to complete to job since he doesn?t have any left. I am going to civil court and will be filing a 250k lawsuit against him and his business. I would highly advise anyone thinking about using him to run. I have run an electrical contracting business for the past 30 years and have never dealt with someone in the construction business that has conducted business this way. He wrote a bad check to my concrete guy that I ended up cover so he wouldn?t go to jail, he bid 12k for the slab, and all he was going to do was put 4?? of concrete and lay it directly on the dirt. It ended up costing me 28k to have professional come in and do it right. There are too many other instances to list. Please stay away from this business!!

Took 4 months to build shed,  needed money before starting, then needed more money before completion. Quality of shed seemed ok.
Promised us electrical but then left us with none saying he would come back and install it. That was March of 2014 havent seen him since.
