"This is one of those jobs where the scope of work changed daily, [member name removed] is a very sweet lady and doesn't realize that when someone changes their mind, the cost does also. We ended up remodeling her laundry room also, and the price did not change. Her husband came home late one night, went into the laundry room where we had plastic covering cabinets and the washer pulled away from the wall. He was tired and did not notice that the drain hose was not connected, he flooded the laundry and kitchen, which created a lot more work for us, this was blamed on us, we did not charge for the added work, the size of the opening from the living room to the kitchen changed, which changes the design of the cabinets, which made us move the electrical that we had already ran, we did not upcharge, the under cabinet and pantry lighting was increased, we added a light fixture in the kitchen, the price did not change, material that we purchased disappeared. she told me that her dollars paid for it and it was hers, that isn't how construction works. My crews were frustrated, and yes, they did not want to go back to Mrs. [member name removed]'s, I had over $5,000. in added expenses on this job and realized that the only way to get off of this job was to absorb these costs. I*f this makes me a bad guy then I guess that is the way it is. Custom Design Construction has been in business for over 20 years, I realize, sometimes to late, that not everyone understands business or the costs associated with business, sometimes to late. In order to keep things from escalating, you take a big gulp, swallow that pill and move on. Mrs. [member name removed] is a very sweet lady, if asked to work for her again, everything will be spelled out to the letter in the contract and additional work authorization forms will be used."
