Mr Rooter did not crawl under the house or fix the leak 2/7/12 or furnish an invoice until demanded 3/12/12. He destroyed numerous tile in the bathroom and soiled the hall carpet with uncovered dirty feet. Lied about the details of the repairs and the difficulty in performing the repairs, but also did not fix the leak at all so that the carpet was ruined and had to be removed 3/14/12 to try to dry the floor under it and clean up mold. The bath floor is 4 years old'. A second Contractor had to fix the leak. My wife informed me that Ronnie Woods and his wife Chris Brock showed her that there was a bad commode leak at 1901 Old Dallas Rd. Recovering from pneumonia and with my hands in braces I could not go and look, but it sounded serious and I had just re-tiled and carpeted the house 3 or 4 years ago. I had used Mr. Rooter before when they used booties to enter, assessed and set a cost beforehand, which I used a credit card to pay over the phone. I called Mr. Rooter again and when the tech called back in his truck, he said he said he had pulled the commode and it would cost $850.00 because the 3 inch. PVC wasn't tall enough and that was causing the leak. He would have to crawl under the house and cut the 3 inch. PVC under the house and add a short piece tall enough to suffice and then place a flange on it add a seal and reset the commode. Ronnie Woods ,the tenant told me that after showing the technician where to crawl under the house (north side) the tech told him that the he wasn't going to need to crawl under the house. Ronnie was with him all the tine he was outside except for the hour he watched him rest in the truck. I have a written statement by Ronnie. Cursing continuously he threaten to charge me $1200 while talking to Ronnie, calling him into the bathroom constantly to watch. He wanted an audience. The tech got a saws-all and proceeded to cut from the bathroom until he broke something off the 3 inch PVC which he glued back together then covered with the flange ($7.00) While he went at it with the saws-all he destroyed every tile around the commode as well as up to ft. in front of it's origional spot and knocked the commode over at least two times spilling more water and used all of my tenants towels to try to soak up the mess. He left more water standing than when he got there. ( An expert would have placed the commode IN THE BATHTUB when he pulled it, to keep from knocking it over and breaking it or spilling it) HE STILL CHARGED ME $250.00 FOR CRAWLING UNDER THE HOUSE AS A SEPARATE FEE. False. $225.00 to cut and extend the 3 inch. PVC WHILE UNDER THE HOUSE. False. Two foot PVC 3 inch. ($4.95) a PVC coupling ($1.23), if he had done the repairs he described. 10 Min.in the bathroom. I took pictures also of the North side of the house grounds, where he was shown to take the loose boards off and crawl under the house but he did not,as he told Ronnie and there is no disturbance of the ground under the house or along the north side front to back about 6 inches. per photo. All it shows are footprints. There are no PVC scraps, he left everything left over from the job on the porch or in the bathroom, where he actually worked, as proof of work, I took pictures of whatever he left. $214.43 He charged to put on a flange ($7.00) and for the undersized seal ($3.00) and resetting the commode so it would continue to leak. Less than an hours work. $332.65 He charged to replace 2 20 inch. water supply lines ($10.56) and a lavatory faucet ($18.45$24.86) about 30-45 minutes work for an expert. Again less than an hour. Whether any part of the sink was leaking I don't know, it was never mentioned by the tech when he called in nor by me. That's $475.00 of fraudulent charges for being under the house right off the bat. The Receptionist/dispatcher was not at all upset that the tech dozed for an hour in the truck because she said, we don't charge by the hour but by the job.(set price, "You know the cost before we start", the yellowpage add says). That may seem to suffice on the surface to discharge my complaint but every bid includes a rule of thumb hourly estimated cost of labor(a per hour charge mandated by the company to multiply how many estimated hours it will take to fix the problem, so to say he doesn't charge by the hour is a misdirection of the facts by MR. ROOTER of how a price for a job is constructed. Even if the company were to say have a set price to replace a commode seal and reset it, that would be based on the estimated time multiplied by a mandated per hour rate furnished by Mr. Rooter, the techs would be told to use it when figuring labor for other work. I never would have caught it if he had fixed it, and had to scream for the invoice. Christie Brock, Ronnie's wife e-mailed the CEO of the Mr. Plumbing franchise and was told they would make it right but nothing happened. Various supervisors of the corp. contacted George Harmon MBA the owner partner of this Mr. Plumbing, but nothing happened. They day after I got the invoice Mr. Harmon MBA called me but all he could do was defend his model employee expert while I poked holes in his story. I suggested he get the facts and call me back, nothing happened. He was supposed to talk to Ronnie and Christy but nothing happened, Both Ronnie Woods and myself have both replaced and reset commodes before we were disabled and Richard Dool, the contractor who finally fixed the leak were amazed by the charges for the actual work completed. He used a $4.00 wax seal of the right size to fix it $250.00 per hour for one man is the estimated rate I calculated based on the $1020.11 minus actual cost of parts found replaced and left at the scene times the 4 hour Ronnie said he stayed. . He could have used a sponge to dry the floor like Richard Dool did, an expert would have one. I have lots of photos and statement and e-mails to back up my statements. Ronnie Woods' wife, Chris Brock e-mailed the CEO of the Mr. Plumber franchise, Mary Thompson and complained but got no response from Mr. Harmon.
