I had seen McAdams and Sons working in my neighborhood over the years. One project of theirs was replacing the roof on a house belonging to a rather prickly neighbor--the sort I'd gladly chunk rocks at if I knew I wouldn't get caught. When it came time, several years ago, to need some temporary repairs I called McAdams. Dennis McAdams did the work in less than two hours and charged a nominal fee, almost a pittance, of around two-hundred dollars. When it came time to have my roof replaced, I remembered their work on a neighbor's, another one besides rock-knot needer, and called McAdams.
Dennis came by at the agreed time, and we settled on cost, materials, and timeframe. The work was to begin the next week, on Tuesday. The materials were delivered on Monday. No crew on Tuesday morning, but I had a visit from Brad McAdams about mid-morning that day. He explained the delay was due to a job running long, and apologized. I'll interject that I understand construction work often depends on the whims of nature and man, and I can be flexible to an extent. What I really require is communication and follow through. A phone call would have sufficed, but a visit in person was even better.
Sure enough, bright and early (not too early, mind you, but around 8:30) the crew arrived and started working. Three layers of roofing was removed and the job was essentially completed by the next (Thursday) afternoon. Some finishing work was done on Friday morning and the job was completed, including a fantastic clean up, and we settled up before noon. The crew was fantastic, picked up after themselves (drink bottles, food wrappers, etc.), used the magnetic rollers twice to pick up stray nails, and used large tarps during the project to catch probably 99.9% of debris from the old roof.
My yards were left in great shape, and the roof looks fantastic. We have had several rains (not enough, I know) since then and I can happily report not one single leak.
Highlights: Job was completed in the agreed upon time frame. Jobsite was cleaned twice. No trash left behind. A superior, leak-free roof is now on my house for a bit less than I had expected. I am completely satisfied and I can, without any reservation, offer my highest recommendation for their services.
