We contacted Dave in March and had some general conversations. We met a few times with Dave and his wife Lea to talk over ideas and scope of the project. Dave did not push us in any particular direction but made multiple suggestions, many of which we found invaluable. After a very slow start on OUR part, we finally got together to sign a contract May 9, 2014 with a projected start date of May 19, 2014. Dave and two members of his crew showed up on time and it started. I don't know how many times we talked with Dave to make adjustments to our wants and needs but Dave worked with us absolutely every step of the way. We were amazed at the detailed personal touches to things that we never would have expected. The quality of the work throughout was unbelievable. There was a hiccough though...Dave had a painter that just did not perform according to Dave's expectations and the painter was let go. Dave ended up doing the repaint himself. Dave had some some crew members that stood out in our minds. James was a general contractor and worked his tail off. Frank was the guy that did the floor tile and we are amazed at how it turned out. He did some things that I thought would have been impossible with the way that he cut some of the tile. Trey provided assistance where necessary and did excellent work with minimal direction. Dave also had two subcontractors do some electrical and plumbing work and his choice of those contractors was excellent. They did all that we expected and more. There was an issue with the new cabinets in that they were not properly designed upon delivery. Dave immediately returned the cabinets to the cabinet maker and just a few short days later, the new cabinets were returned for installation. The cabinets were totally rebuilt according to our requirements without hesitation and with no arguments. Boy do they look good! Part way through the project, Dave's wife Lea had Dave bring us some of her homemade cinnamon coffee cake and it was greatly appreciated and enjoyed. Cleanup was done daily and Dave always let us know what was coming next and what the status of the project was. If there was any singular problem we would have to say that it was Dave's time management. Many times, work did not start on schedule due to lack of crew members or materials. On reflection, the biggest delay was caused by the errant painter. However, Dave and his crew were not clock-watchers. They worked throughout the day and way into evening hours on many occasions. All of the crew members were polite and well-mannered. On the final day, Dave, his wife, and Trey worked until 22:00 that night to give us back our new kitchen. Dave then came back three days later to see if there was anything left that we felt he should touch up. There was nothing that we found fault with. The floor was perfect, the paint was fantastic, the new counter that we had Home Depot build for us (Dave did the installation) is a dream. We have a new stovetop, a new sink, 8 more feet of countertop, a new pantry, three new cabinets with shelves and drawers, new plumbing for our refrigerator's icemaker, new ceiling with "popcorn" removed, new paint on walls with old wall paper a thing of the past, a ceramic tile floor instead of two layers of linoleum. WE ARE HAPPY CAMPERS!
Description of Work: Dave remodeled a 36 year old kitchen and turned it into a work of art.
