Ashworth patio and fence

I hired Andrew to do a patio and cover for me in April,2015. The agreement was that he would build the structure, paint it and then lay the concrete. He came out one day and started the patio cover. He stated that he would come back and finish the patio cover, paint it,  and lay the concrete. He never returned. He kept coming up with excuses--his concrete guys were busy, etc. He would text and say that he would be there that weekend and then never show up.  I paid $5000 cash for a patio cover and concrete and all I got was an unfinished patio cover. I had to hire someone else to come and fix the leaning patio cover, paint it and lay the concrete. 

Everything was excellent from start to finish.  They are very detailed and they exceeded my expectations.   They did all the little things that they didn't have to with out charging.  I would  highly recommend them to anyone.  The price good and fair and I just couldn't be happier.  Not to mention, the quality of work was excellent! Note: After I put the original review in, it rained. We saw all the little flaws after the rain. We had a warranty. He came back to look and see what was wrong. After that, he disappeared and never came back to fix it. Once it rained it washed away a certain part of the patio. We had to get another professional to do his repairs which cost us additional money.

We signed a contract to have Ashworth Patio and Fencing build us a covered patio, and gave him the 50% deposit which is standard.  Andrew Ashwoth who is the owner was very responsive at the beginning, and his pricing was competitive to the other quotes we had received.  While we were waiting for him to start we asked him several times for a drawing of what he was going to build.  At the beginning we gave him several concept pictures, but wanted to see what he was going to build.  Right before he started we had a meeting and discovered that he was not planning to connect the roof to the house which is what we wanted.  He told us that it would be an additional amount which we agreed and reluctantly paid him up front.  At that point he said that he understood the scope of the work.  Another major point we stressed is that we want the roof of the patio to follow the existing so it looks like it was built with the home.  After he set the post we started questioning if the roof was going to line up with the existing roof.  He assured us that it would.  It was only him working, and some other guy that would come by every other day to help out.  After he set the beams and posts we talked about the rafters, and he wanted to build them a certain way that I have never seen before, and not the look we were looking for.  He assured me that the city was fine with it, and it would look good.  After he put up the rafters and headers the roof line appeared that it was not going to follow the existing roof like we discussed in the past many times. We had a meeting and he agreed that it was not going to because of the way it was built.  Also he had called the city out to inspect the structure, and the city said that it was not built to code, and that it would have to be torn down a rebuilt.  We had another meeting with Andrew about fixing the problem, and he agreed to help redo the work.  I work in the building industry, and was going to get a framer to help him frame the structure, and let him finish the rest of the scope.  Andrew agreed to have someone help framing, and he would finish the rest.  However, after the incident he was not very respsive, and not returning calls.  We had an exposed roof, and needed  him to deliver materials so the framers could rebuilt the structure.  He never did.  We got to the point that we had to fire him, and bring someone in to finish the job before it started raining.   We have tried to settle with him because we gave him more money than he should have used, but he has refused to meet and now does not return calls.  We found out that he did the exact thing to another family in a neighboring city.
