Brad Boyd Construction

When he finished the work, I wasn't completely satisfied and I didn't feel he was as professional as I thought that he would be. The majority of the work was great but he didn't complete everything and I was disappointed in that. He was very responsive until the end.

Mr. Boyd completed the work promptly and communicated frequently. We filed with the insurance company as soon as that was possible and advanced him funds until the insurer could issue its check. Mr. Boyd indicated he was experienced in working with insurance situations. Our remodeling was based on an urgent situation. Mr. Boyd completed the outside work to our satisfaction. In replacing the rafters the ceiling in the living room suffered additional damage. He claimed to have solved the problem. He said he would replace the ceiling, however he repaired but did not replace and then re-covered. The ceiling does not match the areas around it. Mr. Boyd was persistent to the point of annoyance in collecting money owed to him. We paid him as quickly as the insurer and mortgage company released funds to us. We made it clear that we never issue handwritten checks - either we use a billing service or in rare cases we have gone to the bank for a check or money order. Mr. Boyd called us numerous times even when he knew the status of his payment. In the last case he was issued a check and then pestered us until we issued another one. In that instance he asked us whether his business partner (brother) could come over and retrieve the check. I informed him (yet again) that as we said from the beginning we do not have nor do we issue handwritten checks - ever. He acknowledged that he knew we didn't issue handwritten checks. I told him that we had sent a check to the PO Box he had given us. I followed up with an email giving him all detail. He followed up yet again - even after we told him when the bill payment service projected the arrival date for his check. Mr. Boyd is an excellent, conscientious builder when he gives you his full attention. However, be prepared to give the man cash on the barrel because he will pester you until he receives it. We had discussed plans for other projects and believe we may have additional work in the next several years. I even discussed building a brand new home. We will never use Mr. Boyd again because of his collection procedures and his steadfast refusal to be reasonable once he has completed his work. Also he left us in the lurch as far as our ceiling goes and we must now find another vendor to complete that work and pay for the service twice. Very sad. Brad Boyd is a very intelligent, capable guy. He is an awful bill collector and left us with a very bad taste in our mouths.
