Big Tex Tree Nurseries

We had used Big Tex last year to take advantage of their Queen Palm offer; we were very impressed with the company & recommended it to friends who have used it since.  Over this particularly harsh winter, one Queen Palm died.  Since we were planning to get more trees this year, we visited Big Tex on I-10 to look at options.

We spoke with Daniel, who very patiently walked us through various options.  He took into consideration the conditions of our property, including a wind-tunnel backyard that brings in maximum cold air in winter, and our need for shade for our patio.  We finally decided on the TruLaurel for several reasons, and set a convenient date for delivery/planting.

The morning of the delivery date, as suggested by Daniel, we called Big Tex to get an idea of the timeframe for delivery.  We were given a 12:00-5:00 pm window, and the name & phone number of the driver, Nicholas.  Nicholas called later to let us know we were on his schedule, and that he'd call before he arrived.  He called before arrival to say he was 11 minutes out.  :)

Nicholas & crew worked quickly & efficiently to get the trees in the ground, and Nicholas reviewed the watering/fertilizing schedule for us, even showing us how he waters the trees, which was different from what we thought.  Nicholas was knowledgeable, courteous &  respectful, as well as being quite personable.  The whole process took less than 30 minutes... wow!

We will continue to recommend Big Tex to our friends.

I really appreciated that they worked with us on this tree replacement.  We had the two trees for a year and in December of 2013 the multiple freeze days killed the trees.  The crew with Nicolas was great.  They removed the two dead trees, dug a new hole for a larger tree that we purchased.  They showed up on time that they said. The work they did was great and fast.  I would use them again.

We bought the New Home Special- $1500 for trees and shrubs. They came out and we were able to substitute more smaller trees for the shrubs. The $1500 doesn't include a $99 charge to 'get to the job' which i assume is like a delivery charge. It also doesn't include tax. The trees all look good. The only problem we had was one of the trees started falling over. So we called them back and they came out to stake the tree- but charged us $32 to come stake it. I would think that if a tree needed to be staked, they should have done it within the $1700 it cost us the first time! Besides that, the trees are all great.

The sales man that I dealt with was knowledgeable, and worked with me in trying to get me the best deal. I went with them because they specialize in trees, and I had used them before, and the trees that they had planted, worked well until January when they died in the freeze. So, they gave me a discount.
