On more than one occasion, had to contact provider due to shoddy service and possible damage to pool equipment due to neglect by provider. On more than one occasion, found pool without adequate chemicals and slime growing on sides of pool. On more than one occasion, found unprimed pool pump running and had to call for return service call. On more than one occasion found pressure gauge on pool filter reading at an unsafe pressure and backwashed filter myself even though my pool had been serviced that day. Was told at one point the particular serviceman that was resposible had been terminated and a new employee would be visiting. Same problems occurred after this change.
Last straw was 6/25/13 when I founf my pool pump running unprimed once again and upon contacting A Perfect Pool was told they would not be responsible for my equipment and would not be honoring the 12 month contract. I of course agreed with terminating contract but feel they are responsible if my pump is damaged. I am in the process of having the pump serviced by a different company so repair price unknown at this time.
I entered into 12 month contract with A Perfect Pool in April 2013 and ended it June 25, 2013.

"(member name removed) called our office to state that his pool was turning a tint of green on or about 6/21/13. We were supposed to have a tech return to his pool, but were not able to schedule someone for the same day. We did however send a tech back to his pool on 6/25/13 to test the water, brush the pool walls and add chemicals to help turn the water back to blue. On 6/24/13, I spoke to the customer and he said he could not wait and would go out to his pool and treat it and backwash it to get it ready for us when we do return to his pool. Customer called again on 6/25/13, in the evening and said that the tech had backwashed his pool and damaged his equipment. Our tech left a note indicating he tested, brushed and treated the pool. He even left him a note that said "Have nice day! - William" We had asked the customer to merely treat the pool and let it work on the pool until we returned later in the week. Customer then called and quit. Our agreement with our customers is that we will do a cursory look at their equipment at each visit and advise if we find a problem with their equipment. We had no indications from the tech or the customer of any problems with his system. We had made repeated visits to his house in the past few weeks, due to customer doing a lot of work himself and not according to manufacturers specifications. Customer mentions pools without adequate chemicals, and slime growing on sides of pool. The "slime" is algae and it was due to the same incident as the unprimed pool pump, and it was because the customer let the water level fall below the skimmer, causing the pool to not operate correctly and by same effect not allow chemicals to feed properly. Customer was very appreciative of our attention when we would come out personally, and said a couple of times how it was his fault and he would take care of it. Our agreement with our customers is that we will provide a cleaning 1 time per week as well as balance their pool water and do the cursory check of their equipment. The pool is in their backyard, daily maintenance like emptying skimmer baskets and adding water are all still part of the homeowners responsibility."

If I could rate them F-, I would. Please read the entire review for the nightmare that we endured.
We contacted this company for service to our salt water pool. The first thing they told me when they arrived was their plan for us to convert our pool back to a chlorine pool! What??? Why would we do that? We just needed help getting the pool back in shape after our motor went out in December of 2012. They told us they could replace the motor which labor would be $95 an hour for up to 4 hours, or we could replace the pump and motor combo. They also told us they recommended some chemicals that we could use with our salt water pool and test strips.
We asked them about cleaning out the pool and they told us to do it ourselves. We rented a sump pump the next day, drained and cleaned the pool to perfection, filled the pool back up and contacted them to let them know we were ready for them to install the new equipment. They told my husband to go a head and put 8 40lb bags of pool salt in the pool.
The technician came out to replace the pump and motor, but did not bring any chemicals. He said it was not on the purchase order. My husband called the owner and he said he would send someone back out with the chemicals. He sent the technician back out and he put a couple of gallons of chemicals in our pool. He tested the water and said we are "Good to Go". The next day, we had algae and rust spots through out the pool. This was on Friday before Memorial Day. We called on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and left messages for them to contact us. We didn't hear back from them until Tuesday after Memorial Day, I received a call from the owner. He bluntly said. "So, what's the problem". I explained the issues and he said, I told your husband to put in 10-20 lbs of chlorine. No. He did not. He told us to put salt back in.
When my husband called them back, he was upset. When he got through to the owner he was told, "You're too stupid to own a pool!" then, "F-you, F your wife and F your pool!" and he hung up on my husband.
These "people" then sent us an email stating that they had filed a Police Report on my husband. And they would not be doing business with us. Our calls will be blocked and our emails will be blocked as well.
We paid them over $1000 for service/equipment and now they won't even take our calls?
STEER Clear!! They obviously are more about selling highpriced, low quality equipment than performing any service or providing a good customer experience.
Update - Please do yourself a favor and read ALL of the reviews. These people have a history of aggressive behavior. They have no clue what it means to provide service. All we wanted was to get our pool in shape with the help of professionals. We really made a mistake by attempting to do business with them. My husband never said those things, she is making it up to try to make herself look better for hanging on my husband. Just don't risk the headache, there are much better pool service pool available. Just look at the reviews first. I wish I had.

"These people should come with a warning for other vendors. Husband called and cussed up a storm, when I asked him to stop talking to me in this manner, he stated he would "grab me by the hair and drag me outside and beat the shit out of me!". The service we contracted for was ONLY to replace a burned out pump and motor. The stains of algae are due to these people not wanting to add chlorine to the water, just want to add salt. The salt system is also pictured in this post and it is leaking. Husband said he works on it all the time, and he could fix it. We advised him we would not work on it because it is so outdated we could not find parts for it. The whole complaint is because all of this happened on Memorial Day Weekend, when we had the 12" of rain in San Antonio and these people could not use their pool. Pool was a nasty mess when we came upon it. BBB has heard their complaint and found that A Perfect Pool did do everything we were paid for and made every effort to remedy the situation. These people are both unstable. Hopefully not just homeowners see this but also vendors, because husband is definitely violent. We chose not to return to the customer, but our work was done as ordered and paid for."

They have done a wonderful job. If there are any repairs needed, they notify us and allow us to choose to do it ourselves or have them do it. Our pool has been crystal clear and worry free. I would definitely recommend them to others.

They told me it would cost almost $3,000 to replace the unit. Before going ahead with their recommendation, I reached out to another company for a second opinion. They told me that the whole thing did not need to be replaced just a part. This was a $68 part.

"In our professional opinion the heater was not worth fixing. It could have been fixed. We encourage our customers to get 2nd opinions. The member was not pressured to buy anything, however if we charged a customer a lot of money to repair it and still doesn't work, they are going to be unhappy as well. The member paid $85.00 which he agreed to in advance for a service call to diagnois his heater, that was all he paid for."

The job was done well. There was no issue with the service- just the price. When the next contractor came to do the exact same job again (since the pump overheated again) the charge was $72.00. A Perfect Pool charged $500.00! When I discussed the issue with Doug he was very aggressive. He said that the difference in elevation between the pool and the pump was a problem, and what we really needed was to place the pump closer to the pool. This of course would be a major undertaking and cost a lot of money. I discussed this with several other pool repair people. They ALL said that the difference in elevation was not a problem as long as there were check-valves in place. Our system has check-valves in spades. On the positive side the weekly service was well-done although slightly overpriced in comparison to competitors. We did not go with the year-long contract. If you want full service chemicals and cleaning, the contract at $135/month would have been good. Spiro, our pool cleaner and chemical treated, was very nice. My final evaluation is the following: weekly servicing is probably a good deal if you get the yearly contract. However, they seem to make their big money on people who need servicing of pool problems and don't have the time to look for other bids. Never, never, never pay these guys to fix anything.
Response from A Perfect Pool
"The member makes it seem like we charged him $500.00 and he got nothing for it. In that bill were check valves that needed to be replaced and or added as anyone in the business knows when pool equipment sits 10-12 feet above the pool, you must have check valves. The lack of valves caused pumps to run without sufficient water, this caused seals to go out. The member got his system repaired for $500.00 that included 3 hours of labor. His system never worked right from the time we started servicing his pool and his lack of knowledge on the operation of the pool made it even more difficult after we left, so these repairs were necessary to save his pumps and motors. We serviced his pool weekly from May 09 to October 09. Our primary business is from a maintenance standpoint, we help our customers and always recommend a pool inspection prior to purchasing a home so you know all the problems with the pool as you would the house prior to making a costly purchase."

They are good and their price is average. I would use them in future.
Response from A Perfect Pool
"The $165 is for a month to month service in the hot summer months when costs are higher. They were on the outskirts of town and had difficulties with their pool set up. Our average price is $145 + sales tax. We have over 150 satisfied residential customers that we have had for many years."
