What a disaster!!!!!! All the horror stories  I read online from other people who used professional movers came true! The original date to move was Monday October 10, with a window to get the furniture to Texas no later than 10/25. The day before I received a call from the van driver informing me that he had no room on his truck for my mom's furniture and would not be coming on 10/11. I called Sherry at J.A. Haralson and was told they would check it out. They called back to say the new moving date was Wednesday 10/12. My sister and I were scheduled to leave PA on 10/13. The day before I again received a call that the van was too full for my mom's furniture and the new date was 10/20, but  a local company would pick up the furniture and boxes and put them in "storage" till there was a truck going to Texas. I was very upset as I had read online that this is what happens to partial load moves, furniture and belongings get stuck in a warehouse and things go missing or get broken. I called J.A. Haralson and they were very nasty, which was not the first time. They acted as though I was being unreasonable to expect my mom's furniture to be moved when they said it would! We boxed up my mom's breakables and personal items and spent $1000 sending them UPS to Texas because we did not trust the moving co. Also, we were moving a Grandfather clock and had told Sherry several times, but she neglected to tell me that it would need special packing. The local mover refused to pick it up unless the packing was done so at great expense we hired a clock mover to come to the house the night before the move and "pack" the clock. The furniture was picked up on 10/12 and stuck in the warehouse in Pittsburgh, PA. I called Sherry several times for a date when it would be moved and she was again nasty and finally gave me the phone number for NorthAmerican van lines customer complaints. Once I called them I was given a moving date and the furniture finally arrived in Texas on 10/28. IT was a miserable experience from start to finish [except the mover, Eddie, who was very sweet and did a great job, unfortunately the glass in the Grandfather clock was broken upon arrival and calls to customer service went unreturned. AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!
