Electrical Service
$800
Electrician advised us he only did electrical work part-time, but since he works as a fireman in Longview, he had a very flexible schedule.  He arrived at 7 a.m. and gave estimate of cost and wanted to begin work immediately.  We informed him that we had to leave at noon on that day, and he felt that was sufficient time to complete the job.  When time arrived for us to leave, the electrician (Alan Miller) said he would be able to finish shortly and we could lock the house.  I left him a check in an envelope and asked for him to put his receipt in the envelope before leaving.  When we returned, the check was gone, no receipt was left, and the work was not finished.  We began calling and leaving messages and he returned my call a couple of days later saying he would return soon to finish the work.  I began keeping a log of my texts on May 23rd, asking for a firm appointment to finish the work.  On May 25th he texted that he would arrive on the 28th or 29th to wrap it up.  He never showed up.  I texted him 5 times before I got a reply on the June 3rd saying he was out of town and would be there on the 6th.  When he didn't show up, I called and texted that we had guests arriving and would be leaving town for a few days so this needed to be finished, but he kept ignoring me.  On the 6th he told me to call when we got back into town and he would come over.  On the 10th I texted that we were home and again on the 13th to ask for a call.  He finally texted on the 15th that he could be there at 4 p.m. on the 19th.  I agreed.  He never showed.  This same promise and no show continued throughout the entire month of June.  He finally showed up when we were gone on the 26th and finished in less than an hour because my husband had already cleaned up the mess he left behind.  He never left us a receipt.  So much for the "Lifetime Warranty" he offered.
I kept checking on Craigslist, and found Mr. Miller was still advertising his services the entire time he was not completing our work.  I made the mistake of trusting him and paying him in full that day.  I will never trust a contractor in this manner again.
