After unsuccessfully battling chinch bugs & fungus for years on my own, a significant portion of my lawn had deteriorated to the point where I thought a complete re-sod of the affected areas was in order. As a last resort, I contracted with Lawn Ranger to provide quarterly lawn maintenance service (fertilization, fungicide, pesticide, herbicide treatments). My lawn has recovered nicely & is in noticeably better shape than are those of most of my neighbors - and no re-sodding was required! On occasion, their service tech provided me with some helpful lawn care tips & even responded to questions I had texted him after hours and on weekends.

"Mr. and Mrs. [removed member name], We have attempted to reach you by phone, and have left numerous voice messages. We have provided lawn services for you since October 2013. Our records show that in April 2014 you requested some additional landscaping services. After several unsuccessful attempts to reach you by phone in order to set up a meeting to discuss your needs, Mark Dawson sent an email on May 2, saying that he has tried numerous times to make contact with you, and asking you to please call him at the office. The next communication we received from you is an email dated May 18, in which you list several things you wish to have done to your lawn and garden. Meanwhile, you posted a less than favorable review on Angie's List on May 14, in which you graded us poorly on a job that you declared was done on May 12 at a cost of $1,800.00. We have no record of any work other than your regular maintenance being done on or around this date, nor any work being done in the amount of $1,800.00. Actually, we are still waiting for approval to begin the work. I am not understanding why you indicate you would not hire us again, when in fact, you have not cancelled your maintenance service, and in your email dated May 18, you are requesting yet more services. I appreciate your business. However, I find no basis for this negative review. I would be most grateful if you would correct this and set the record straight. Thank you so much. Walt Crowder, Owner"

"I apologize for the delay in getting back to you. The information from my office was correct in that I was in Orlando at a conference. It was there that I became ill. Upon landing at IAH, I went directly to E.R. where I was diagnosed with H1N1 flu. I was out of the office for 2 weeks. During that time, I was in no condition to return phone calls. I'm sorry. I believe you indicated you have not paid for the service. That is perfectly OK. And I'll be happy to refund whatever additional money you feel is appropriate. Thank you very much. Now normally I would take this to the company directly and work with them to address my concerns rather than jumping straight to blasting them in a review however this brings me to my second, and more important, criticism of Lawn Ranger. They are extremely unresponsive. If I thought my concerns would be addressed in a timely manner then I would probably spend the time and effort to address them with the company directly. I have called and left messages for Mark to return my calls for various requests which include providing information on tree trimming services and also providing quote and scheduling for landscaping in the front of our house. Many times I have called and spoken to Amber (who by the way is very courteous and professional) and reminded her to ask Mark to call me or at least email me the requested information and 9 times out of 10 I have not heard from him. The only time he did respond was after I called several times in a row over the course of a couple days. This is unacceptable from a customer service standpoint and in my mind reflects a lack of professionalism (hence the reason I rated them low on that metric also). The only explanation I can think of for the lack of responsive would be if he is extremely busy and just cannot find the time to respond however if that was the case then he should not have agreed to provide me the information in the first case.
In general I have been very put off by how my requests have been handled and I will be looking for another company to treat and maintain our lawn as well as provide landscaping services in the future.
Mark came up with a beautiful landscaping plan. He worked with us to pick out out plants and gave us alot of options. We have pets so we wanted to make sure all of our choices were pet friendly. It did take a few weeks to get our job done due to his busy schedule, but it was worth it. It is so much more than what we expected.
The lawn service is excellent. We have the same gentleman that comes everytime so he is familar with what we like to have done. He always calls ahead of time to make sure our pets are in the house. He also gives us advise on the watering schedule, and how to take care of out landscaping. This is an excellent service.

The second crew arrived Wednesday and applied my first fertilization and brown-patch treatment. They also assisted me in modifying my sprinkler system schedule to maximize the growth and vitality of my lawn.
I look forward to their bi-weekly visits throughout this fall and winter and will definitely contract them in the spring to add new landscaping features.
